The Forgotten is the 20th episode of Clarence
Plot
Clarence encounters a lone student, named Brady, who wants to find his long way home.
Qualities That Are Not Forgotten
- The idea of a main character encountering an emotional person who does not have any parents is interesting.
- In the opening scene, Clarence hangs out with many people, albeit a few people (Percy, Darlie, and Belson) are specified, is good, until he encounters Brady.
- The relationship between Clarence and Brady is the complete opposite, but it is handled well:
- Clarence is a happy-go-lucky kid who loves hanging out with his friends and loves playing around.
- Brady is a lonely, emotional kid who seems to be nervous about the small things people do.
- Brady does get a bit of character development where he becomes less nervous when he and Clarence encounter a hobo who sees both of them half-naked.
- It contains charming nods to the Peanuts series, like Brady's affection for Mavis, whom he calls "the little red-haired girl," and his utterance of "Good grief!"—both reminiscent of Charlie Brown.
- The comic art style Clarence uses as his imagination is very cool.
- When Clarence watches TV with Chad, he reminds him of alligators having teeth, which is emotional.
- The ending shows the students playing instruments in a reminiscent of Peanuts, which is good.
- Clarence's line: Are we in Florida yet?
Qualities That Are Forgotten
- The whole episode is pointless because of its premise. However, the creators did their best to make it.
- Chad, Clarence's father, is selfish since he does not care about Clarence and Brady finding his way home and instead cares about watching TV.
- After Clarence calls out to him for not picking him and Brady up in the car, the latter tells Clarence to call him next time.
- The Grand Canyon uses a stock image with the face of Simon Pahrucker seen in the bottom-left, which is lazy.
- At the end of the episode, when Brady attempts to talk to Mavis, Clarence interrupts Brady, causing her to run, and Brady freaks out. The whole episode is revealed to be a TV show that the hobo is watching, rendering this scene pointless.
Trivia
- Jeff and Sumo appear at the end of the episode.
- Even though it is Brady's major role in this episode, his debut is in Honk, the 9h episode, where he is seen as a cameo.
- At the end of the episode is a parody of Charlie Brown Christmas where most students dance and Clarence plays a piano.
- When Clarence and Brady see the Grand Canyon, Simon Pahrucker's face is seen as well.
- Brady stated that the girl with the red hair (Mavis) and "Good Grief" are quotes from Charlie Brown.
- He also screams like Charlie Brown at the end of the episode where he attempts to talk to Mavis.
- There are two references to the 1969 film, The Midnight Cowboy:
- Throughout the scene, a parody of "Everybody's Talkin" by Harry Nillson plays.
- Clarence states that if he and Brady are in Florida while riding on a bus is also a reference to it.
