The Human Centipede 3 (Final Sequence) is a 2015 English-language Dutch body horror black comedy film written and directed by Tom Six. It is the conclusion to Six's The Human Centipede trilogy. Starring Dieter Laser and Laurence R. Harvey, the leading actors from the first two films, in new roles, The Human Centipede 3 was released both theatrically and on video on demand on 22 May 2015.

Plot

Bill Boss is a violent, chauvinistic, arrogant, and racist Texas warden who decides to create a human centipede with an entire prison population as a crime deterrent as a desperate attempt to save his job from being taken away by Governor Hughes due to his violent acts towards the inmates

Why It Risks Causing Harm

  1. The premise is basically exactly the same as the two previous films. Beyond trying to one-up the previous films, it has nothing new to offer, nor does it have any plot, lore, or message.
  2. Like the second movie, it barely qualifies as a sequel at all. Also like the second film, that film and the first one are movies within the third film.
  3. Also like the second film, there's an excessive amount of violence and sexual content with no purpose, although it is not as excessive compared to the previous movie.
    • For a example, you will see a prisoner to stitched to the Centipede later in the movie
    • The next part of the film has death row inmates getting dismembered for The Human Caterpillar.
    • One scene in the film has Bill raping Daisy while she was in a coma.
    • The infamous scene where Bill downright castrates Inmate 297 and cuts off his testicles. He even go as far to actually eat the testicles cooked.
  4. Bill Boss is a psychopathic, annoying, irredeemable character who just shoots at whoever he wants, acts very violent towards to the inmates as a way to fight violence with violence and his other actions that he does in the film makes him a borderline criminal, and to make matters worse, at the end of the film, he gets away with the horrible things he has done.
    • Despite the warning from Governor Hughes to stop his violence towards the prisoners or else he will lose his job, he ignores the warning as he castrated a inmate and as said above, he murdered other people in the prison.
    • Continuing on with the warning from Governor Hugues, Bill yells out a insult to him because he warned him that he and Dwight will be fired, which shows that Bill cannot handle any criticism at all.
    • Hypocrisy: Bill is desperate on stopping the violent rates in the prison, yet he does violent things to the inmates for their bad acts.
    • He harasses Daisy and is very mean spirited to her as well.
      • He has her to join the Centipede at the end with zero explanation.
      • When Daisy tries to get in his office, Bill pushes her out of the room, and has lead to Daisy to almost get beaten to her death by an inmate, showing how much Bill treats her horribly.
    • He murders Dwight as a way to take his own credit for the creation of the centipede.
  5. Aside from Bill Boss, most characters are unlikable:
    • The inmates that have screen time are unlikable and they suffer from the "every inmate is a monster" cliché.
    • Governor Huges turns very hypocritical at the end of the movie by saying Bill and Dwight should be sentenced to death and leave them and only to comeback and say the prison centipede is good and acts like Dr. Jones's murder is nothing to be seen.
  6. Except for a few gore scenes, there's not much really horrifying.
  7. For some reason, Bill orders Inmate 297 who he personally castrated to be attached to the a inmate with diarrhea as extra punishment for raping him in his dream, despite the fact that part was a dream.
  8. Bad acting from pretty much everyone.
    • Dieter Laser's overacting gets annoying after a while.
  9. Stupid and excessively racist dialogue, which mainly comes from Bill.
  10. The movie is just boring and takes a while to get anywhere; the "human centipede" here only appears toward the end of the movie, and it is a painful wait
  11. Some scenes go on too long, and start to feel uncomfortable such as the infamous castration scene, and the blow job scene, both to long, and even worse, they were back to back.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Like the previous two movies, the movie probably wasn't meant to be enjoyed to begin with.
  2. Dwight and Daisy are likable characters, although they're treated like butt-monkeys through out the movie and their character arks ended in a terrible fate.
  3. Some cast members from the previous movies returned for either main roles, or cameos as prisoners.
  4. The soundtrack is decent and is fitting for the setting.

Reception

The Human Centipede 3 has received generally negative reviews from critics. On review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes, the film has an 17% rating based on 46 reviews with an average rating of 2.2/10. The site's critical consensus states that "Human Centipede fans may find enough extreme body horror in the third installment to satisfy, but filmgoers of every other persuasion are strongly advised to stay far, far away from Final Sequence." Metacritic reports an average score of 5 out of 100, indicating "overwhelming dislike" from 15 critics

Awards and Nominations

The film was nominated for two Razzies, those being "Worst Director" for Tom Six, and Worst "Prequel, Remake, Rip-off or Sequel", both of which lost to Fant4stic.

Trivia

Tom Six himself makes a cameo in the movie as himself, visiting the prison and giving out autographs.
