The Land Before Time XI: Invasion of the Tinysauruses is a direct-to-video animated film created by Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and was released on January 11, 2005 by Universal Studios Home Video. It serves as the sequel to the 2003 film The Land Before Time X: The Great Longneck Migration and is 11th film in The Land Before Time series.
Plot
When Littlefoot accidentally knocks down a tree's blossoms, the tiny fruits attract a herd of tiny dinosaurs called Tinysauruses.
Why It Should Get Invaded By The Tinysauruses
- False Advertising: There is still no connection to the first movie, thus making it a sequel in- name only.
- It is the moment The Land Before Time jumped the shark. By 2005, the kids who watched the first several sequels were already in high school. The Great Longneck Migration (while a bit of a disgrace to the franchise like the other sequels) could've ended the franchise on a high note, but Universal decided to keep milking The Land Before Time series for all its worth.
- The plot from The Great Valley Adventure, in which Littlefoot also tries to prove that he's big, is rehashed in this film.
- There are a lot of awkwardly drawn facial expressions that feel out-of-place for a movie like The Land Before Time and its sequels.
- The title of the film is a bit misleading a it gives off the impression that the Tinysauruses are aliens like the Rainbow Faces from The Land Before Time VII: The Stone of Cold Fire and are gonna INVADE The Great Valley, but that never happens, infact its also misleading as the Tinysaurusrs came from underground.
- There are noticeable plot-holes in this film:
- When and were did Topsy meet Tria, and why did he not tell Sara about her?
- Where did the Tinysauruses come from?
- The Sharpteeth in this movie are basically a pack of Velocripators from the seventh film, which is lazy.
- There are noticeable errors in this film, during the scene were Littlefoot confesses to everybody about what happen to the Treesweets, Topsy is shown on a cliff in front of a boulder with a Stegosaurus were Littlefoot is, but in the next scene he's now at the bottom of the cliff with the rest of the Dinosaurs.
- Cera is now a complete brat, and while she does bring up the interesting point that Littlefoot is too small for his age she goes about it in the stupidest way.
- Predictable, childish dialogue and writing.
- Littlefoot has been recast yet again and he sounds much more hammy than before.
- The musical numbers are corny at best, some of which can easily be cut from the film and it would be the same.
- The next three movies are even worse.
Redeeming Qualities
- The animation is still great.
- Some funny moments here-and-there, such as the scene were after Big Daddy and the Tinysauruses get to the Mysterious Beyond, Big Daddy says "Well at least we won't have Big Ones chasing us all the time.", only to have a pair of Velocripators appear in the Great Valley to which Big Daddy then says to the Tinysauruses: Of course I could be wrong... RUUUUUUUUUUNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!
- The voice acting is still great, especially with Michael Clarke Duncan, who does a fantastic job as Big Daddy.
Reception
The Land Before Time XI: Invasion of the Tinysauruses is considered by many critics and fans to be among the worst in the series alongside The Land Before Time XIII: The Wisdom of Friends, with many citing a confusing storyline and poorly-written songs.
