The Legendary Prophecy of Light and Darkness: The Power to Save the World is a fantasy RPG game made in RPG Maker by YouTuber Tamers12345.

The game was announced on his YouTube channel in a series of trailers and was also funded on Patreon and Kickstarter. It was released on Valentine's Day of 2018. Currently, it is being sold on itch.io for 10 dollars, which can be found here. The developer has stated that he plans to put it on Steam sometime in the future. Currently, there has been a confirmed sequel in the works called The Legendary Prophecy of Light and Darkness: The Power 2! Save The World. The gameplay can be seen here.

The game is "inspired" by Persona, Overwatch, Undertale and Cave Story. The game is about Satan, a blue elf-looking fug that attempts to stand up to his guardian, Uncle Chip, along with his siblings The Man and Stephanie. After failing, Uncle Chip throws Satan over a waterfall where he meets Bumblebee. Together, the two plan and fight back to save The Man and Stephanie from Uncle Chip's evil clutches.

Why It Doesn’t Have the Power to Save the World

  1. For an RPG, it has a terrible and ridiculously long name.
    • It also doesn't help the fact the title screen background is also from default RPG Maker assets.
  2. Grammatical and spelling errors are rampant throughout the game. There's one in the title and its official itch.io page and the main character Satan calls a box a "Bos" at the beginning of the game.
  3. A couple of glitches scattered here and there. Thankfully, none are game breaking though.
  4. Like any generic RPG Maker games, its designs and stories are bland, unoriginal, and extremely lazy, just like as if the developer didn't bother to spice anything up.
  5. A lot of edgy, immature, and unfunny jokes and dialogues.
  6. Little to no action or fighting in it, it's just mostly crappy dialogues.
  7. Every single major characters are incredibly unoriginal and completely rip-offs of characters from Sonic Underground (example being Satan = Sonic, The Man = Manic, Bumblebee = Bartleby). It doesn't really help that this is because the creator Tamers12345 is a fan of Sonic Underground.
  8. The main ship in the game (Satan and Bumblebee) is extremely forced and unlikeable in general.
  9. All the characters have the same bland design: frowning face with stern crooked eyes.

The Only Redeeming Quality

  1. At least the game is $10, which is pretty cheap compared to a lot of bad games out there. This is actually saying a lot and is probably the only decent thing about the game, too bad it ain't going to save it.

Reception

This game has mostly gotten an "ironic" reception for being good. The actual reviewers bashed the game for being rubbish.

Trivia

The main ship in the game about Satan and Bumblebee was infamously based on Sonic and Bartleby the fact that Tamers12345 the fan of "Sonic Underground, making Bartleby an exaggeratedly manly, brash, horny, aggressive, and sometimes sadistic yet loving boyfriend to the more submissive and reckless Sonic in his videos that keep shipping him and Sonic as a potential gay couple of some sort, it has started to become somewhat of an internet joke at one point.
