Summary

Nicole thinks that Gumball needs more attention, so she came to his school and follows him where he goes.

Bad Qualities

  1. This is a Gumball torture episode.
  2. Nicole doesn't focus on giving more attention to Gumball. Instead, she treats him like a baby to the point of calling him Gummypuss.
  3. Richard was unlikable in the beginning of the episode, he ignores Gumball and acts negligent towards him, which is very out-of-character for Richard.
  4. Everybody mocks Gumball since he was holding hands with his mother, and she doesn't nag them at all.
  5. The awkward moment when Nicole was in a locker, freaking Gumball and Darwin out.
  6. Nicole for out the whole episode tries way too hard to "help" Gumball, but instead she makes things worse:
    • After Gumball ran into Principal Brown by accident, Nicole makes him give Gumball detention for the rest of the day to "help". Plus this plot point is a continuity error itself, because Gumball never goes to any detention for the rest of the episode. Why does Principal Brown let him audition for cheerleading if he was in detention?
    • Then Nicole bathes Gumball in the shower.
    • Nicole tries embarrassing Gumball while he is around with Penny, making him being rude to her, causing him to lose his girlfriend, albeit temporary when in the ending.
    • And finally Nicole (for some bizarre reason) gets Gumball to join the try out even though it is supposed to have a girl-audience, which he loses and breaks his legs.
  7. Gumball's tryout was awkward and embarrassing since his buttocks can be really shown.
    • Question: Why would Nicole make Gumball join cheerleading warm up even though he is a male?
  8. When Nicole appears in school, Darwin literally does nothing aside from literally smiling for out the rest of the episode, making him nothing but filler. Because of that you could remove Darwin from the episode and it would make zero difference.
  9. Bad Ending: Gumball loses the cheerleading contest and breaks his legs, and begs Nicole to have the judges to redo the score, but Nicole says other wise and tells Gumball that he would be her "Gummypuss" even when he is eighty as Gumball cries. Then, Darwin's head explodes because he had been smiling too much during most of the episode.
    • On that topic, Nicole says a very questionable and down right frustrating line: "Zero plus zero equals zero"......what does that mean???
  10. Nicole never gets punished for all the embarrassments she gave to Gumball.
  11. The Meddler is overall a wasted concept of a good episode, an episode where the mother of the protagonist comes to school, which was an interesting idea and could have made some clever jokes, boils down to Nicole literally babying Gumball to the point of embarrassing him, making him nearly lose his girlfriend, and Gumball losing the cheer leading warm up.

Good Qualities

  1. "Mom, you're not helping."
  2. There are a few funny moments, such as the Gumball and Tina scene.
  3. The beginning was decent.
  4. In the ending Gumball did get a kiss from Penny after failing in the tryouts giving her a chance to be a cheerleader.

Trivia

  • This was the fourth episode of the series that premiered in the United Kingdom, 12 days before the United States.
