From May to December 2012, the Seven Network unsuccessfully tried a revival of The Price is Right.

Why The Price is Wrong

  1. Brodie Young, the new announcer, tries to be hip (in the premiere, Brodie proposes shortening the phrase "Come on Down" to "C.O.D") and would fit comfortably on Jersey Shore.
  2. The show has a noticeably lower budget, sponsored by the Big W (Australia's equivalent of Walmart). For example, Plinko is played for Big W "shopping sprees", in other words, Big W gift cards.
  3. Cliffhangers doesn't even have the top part with the name, making the prop look unfinished.
  4. The format is based on the unsuccessful 1994 US syndicated version. The playoff is Contestant's Row. In addition, if the contestant wins, chances are they move on to the showcase showdown. If they don't, then they have to hope that another contestant loses so a playoff takes place. This is why Doug Davidson's version had either the Wheel or The Price Was Right, so that a quandary like this doesn't happen.
  5. Lame prizes.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Great set, based on the successful 2009-2015 French version of Le Juste Prix.
  2. Larry Emdur's still a great host.
  3. Good remix of the theme.
