The Sims 3 is the third game in the life simulation video game series of the same name, developed by EA Maxis and published by Electronic Arts.

Why It Rocks

  1. Same Sims gameplay as the last two.
  2. Open world gameplay. There are no loading screens during gameplay. In addition, Sims now can walk up to another's house and drive in cars to reach new destinations in the world.
  3. Additional worlds were added in DLC, and can also be created using the "Create a World" tool. These custom worlds can be downloaded as well.
  4. There is now a body weight slider and body muscle slider, allowing Sims to have varying weights instead of just having three fixed body shapes.
  5. You can customize objects and clothing items using the new "Create a Style" tool. Like a clothing or building item, but in the wrong color? Use the Create a Style tool to correct the color. Want a geometric pattern on your bed blanket or shirt? Use the Create a Style tool to change the material used for the item.
  6. Sims now have traits instead of personality points, each Sim can have up to five traits, and the trait range from personality traits to ability traits.
  7. Sims can now modify actions they're currently doing, for example, a Sim can choose to start slacking off during work, or do a "Quick Burst" during a workout.
  8. If you have the console versions, you can use karma powers to take your game further.
  9. Like The Sims 2 for PC, the PC version of The Sims 3 has a lot of mods which add new features, clothing, and building items and fix existing features to work better.

Bad Qualities

  1. The PC game is technically unstable. It has inconsistent performance when the game is running, and sometimes the game can crash your PC when running.
    • If you own all the DLCs the game could take longer to load, due to this.
    • It also lacks the V-Sync option, which is incredibly stupid.
  2. When switching to a new world as in the World Adventures, University Life, and Into the Future expansion packs, a loading screen is shown.
  3. The Xbox 360 and PS3 versions have loading screens during gameplay when moving to different locations in the world.
  4. The console versions of the game do not have a story mode, making it seem more like downgraded versions of the PC game. In addition, it only had a single expansion pack released as a separate game, the Pets expansion pack, which in the console version do not have horses, a new feature in the PC game.
  5. The re-release version on Steam is infamous for its ridiculous price tag due to EA intentionally and deliberately dissecting several in-game features and sold them at a very high price ($20 each), which in-turn inflated the game's price into $325.
  6. There are three bad ports. The terrible 3DS, smartphone, and Wii versions.
  7. It's really hard to make good looking faces in the game. Faces often look too rounded due to the modeling in the game. There is also the "pudding face" issue, in which the faces of all generated Sims look the same due to no randomization of the face, and male Sims all look like Gage Briody.
  8. The Katy Perry's Sweet Treats expansion pack is infamous among the community due to appearing as a cash grab content pack licensed in Katy Perry's name.
  9. For some pointless reason, you can't make Sims characters be related by blood as Young Adults or Adults and are limited to either housemates or twins, which basically ruins the immersion unless a mod is included for PC.
