The Sims Mobile is a life simulation game based on The Sims series, released on March 6, 2018, for Android and iOS. It was developed by Maxis (currently by Firemonkeys Studios) and published by Electronic Arts.
Bad Qualities
- It is just a watered-down version of The Sims 4, but on a mobile device.
- This game is filled with micro-transactions, which are heavily used for Simcash, cupcakes used for refilling energy, clothing, etc.
- You can only create two Sims for free and the other two Sims can only be bought with Simcash. That's right, you have to pay money to create more than 2 Sims.
- Limited Create a Sim options due to many of the clothing having to be bought with virtual currency.
- You cannot play as a Child Sim until it grows up to be an Adult.
- Reuses music and sounds from The Sims 4 and voice clips from The Sims 3.
- All the needs are replaced with power. Once they run out, you must either wait a day, use your bed to recharge, or use a cupcake.
- The interactions all happen in real time, meaning you must wait for the sim to complete the interaction before doing a another one, unlike the original games having virtual time and you can speed it up.
- This game requires an online connection to play. This is strange, since the other Sim games can be played offline.
- Despite requiring an online connection, it plays just like a single player sims game. Just a few of the features are online only, such as the parties.
- The timed quests give you barely any time to complete the quest, meaning if you don't finish the quest in time, you have to restart the quest, losing all of your progress.
- This game is not compatible with all Android as long as they have Android 4.1 or later devices although it requires Android 4.1 or newer!
- Ironically, sometime ago, the minimum Android requirements were updated to Android 4.4 or later, meaning that Android 4.1-4.3 devices cannot play the game anymore.
Good Qualities
- It can be a good way to start The Sims since it's free to play.
- You can host parties and go to other player's parties, making it online multiplayer.
- Decent graphics for a mobile game, which looks almost exactly like The Sims 4.
- Has new features, such as creating your own clothing with cool effects, and a baking contest.
- The jobs your Sims do are interactive, and they can help speed up the job time.
Reception
The Sims Mobile received "mixed or average reviews" from critics, holding a 73/100 on Metacritic and 3/5 stars from Common Sense Media.
