The Smurf Who Couldn't Say No is an episode of The Smurfs.
Summary
Pushover and Scaredy Smurf must deal with the Marsh Monster and light the torch with the Foxfire together for the Firefly Festival.
Why it Rocks
- It is most notable for introducing Pushover Smurf. All the other Smurfs get Pushover to do their jobs for them to get ready for the Firefly Festival and he hardly ever says "no".
- The episode gets better in the second half when the Marsh Monster emerges from the Swamp, saying "Cursed he who killed my flame. Cursed he who gives me pain!".
- Pushover is able to stand up for himself at the end, telling his fellow Smurfs "no" when they want something.
- Scaredy was able to stand up for himself, too. Unfortunately, he went back to being a coward at the end.
- The scene with Scaredy and Pushover walking through an abstract background with evil spirits during the oddly rhythmic song is one of the most original scenes of the show.
- Funny moments, such as Harmony interrupting the music with his usual tone-deaf horn.
Bad Qualities
- Pushover Smurf never returned in future episodes, thus wasting potential.
- The song "Everyone's Afraid Sometimes" is rhythmic, but hardly ever a song.
Trivia
- As mentioned above, this is the only Smurfs episode to feature Pushover Smurf.
- One of the episodes where Gargamel and Azrael don't appear.
