The Techno-Files is the 29th episode of Season 2 and the 107th episode overall of Oggy and the Cockroaches. It made a remaster in the 7th season under Oggy's Exoskeleton, which is the 8th season of Season 7 and the 437th episode overall.

Plot

Sick and tired of attempting to swat the roaches in an old-fashioned way, Jack introduces a robotic helmet and boots that Oggy wears so that he can help them swat the roaches properly, but things keep failing because of them.

Why It Should Get Those Exoskeletons Destroyed

  1. First and foremost, this is extremely mean-spirited towards Oggy, even worse than usual.
  2. Misleading Title: In the remaster, the title says "Oggy's Exoskeleton", even though Jack builds robotic boots to kill the roaches.
  3. Jack, unlike most other episodes, is extremely unlikable and unsympathetic. He refuses to acknowledge that his inventions aren't doing any good, and lets his ego take the best of him.
    • Jack is also an idiot here. For example, the entire plot is that he forces Oggy to use his dangerous inventions to kill the cockroaches, even though many other episodes have him chase the roaches without machinery.
  4. The comedy is unfunny, obnoxiously stale, and is only focused on Oggy being maliciously abused with no other payoff.
  5. Gratuitious over-exaggerated brutality and disturbing content is rife in this episode, especially the scene where Jack's robot goes feral and destroys Animville, and the aftermath.
  6. Bad ending: Following the aforementioned rampage, Oggy, the cockroach companions, and Jack are hiding in a dumpster in the deserted, demolished landscape. With nothing to do, Oggy swats the cockroaches for inadvertently and indirectly causing this mess, and attacks Jack with it for the problematic inventions.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Oggy and the roaches are the only likable characters in this episode, and the most sympathetic, especially the former.
  2. This episode has a creative concept of using machines to kill pests, despite being poorly executed.
  3. Jack at least gets his comeuppance for the trouble he caused at the end, and so do the cockroaches despite them not really deserving it.
  4. The title cards in both versions of the episode are probably some of the best in the series and are very detailed.
