The Wild Thornberrys is an American animated television series that originally aired on Nickelodeon.

Plot

The show is about an eccentric family of nature documentary filmmakers known as the Thornberrys, famous for their televised wildlife studies. It primarily centers on the family's younger daughter Eliza, and her secret gift of being able to communicate with animals, which was bestowed upon her after rescuing a warthog that was actually a Shaman.

Why It's SMASHING

1. The idea of a girl who can magically talk to animals is really cool, but totally secret.
2. Decent animation.
3. Great voice-acting. Lacey Chabert was great as Eliza and Tim Curry was great as Nigel.
4. Heartwarming moments.
5. It also educates children about nature and animals.
6. The Thornberry family are all really likable characters:
   • Eliza is a caring, young kid who always wants to help out animals and nature, and uses her gift responsibly.
   • Debbie is the relatable, teenage girl.
   • Nigel and Marianne are caring and adventurous parents.
   • Darwin and Donnie are really funny comic-reliefs.
7. It adapted into a theatrical film, The Wild Thornberrys Movie which was decent.
8. The episode "Forget Me Not" is really dramatic and emotional as it shows an elephant dying from old age on screen.

Bad Qualities

1. There are some pretty disturbing moments. Like this one.
2. Sometimes accidentally uses false information about animals, despite the show being about a documentary maker; for instance, in one episode, Eliza says the Komodo dragon is the world's largest reptile, which is incorrect as they are actually the largest living lizard, and they are nowhere near the largest reptile.
3. Seasons 4 & 5, while not terrible, are the weakest seasons of the show, as they focus less on animals and locales than the first three, especially with "Eliza Unplugged", the final episode of the series, revolving around Eliza's crush.
