Think About Your Future is the 39th episode of the 3rd season of Teen Titans Go!.

Synopsis

The Titans become reckless with their money and health, much to the detriment of their future selves. Therefore, the elderly Titans decide to travel back to the past to change the habits of their young selves.

Why It Doesn't Think About Our Future

  1. The problem with this episode is that it teaches people that it is wrong to be healthy and prevent yourself from doing bad habits, making doing whatever you want with your health completely acceptable, which it really isn't. In reality, what you eat and wear could affect your lifestyle.
  2. The Titans are unlikable, because not only did Raven warn them a couple of times about the consequences of what they are doing with themselves, but they refuse to take her advice and as a result, she gets roped in too, which is a bad move.
  3. The Titans suddenly being careless about their money feels forced and out of place. Not to mention, it’s out of character because previous episodes show them being conscious about their money. (e.g., the episode Driver’s Ed features Robin wanting to go shopping because the store he wanted to go to is having a huge sale) Here is their frivolous purchases in this episode:
    • Custom jean jackets
    • Permanent tattoos
    • A large pizza order with a gallon of ranch dressing (we’re not kidding) and a gallon of cola
  4. Not to mention, the pizza order is very disgusting.
  5. As hinted in WIS#2, Raven wasn't any better since she could have stopped herself from making the worst decisions with the Titans, but decided it's wrong too since, as Raven puts it, "We're young!" which is a pointless excuse overall.
  6. As usual, this episode suffers from some gross-out scenes such as the elderly Beast Boy's swollen foot.
  7. The elderly Titans being poor does not make sense because if the Titans made frivolous purchases as teens, how could it effect their old age if they became money conscious when they grew up?
  8. While funny at times, the running gag of the Titans defining whether now was later (or later was now, etc.) can get on people's nerves. Especially when they realize the effects of their habits reaching their peak, as Raven had told them before.
  9. Elderly Robin’s beer belly is disgusting.
  10. Not to mention, although they did try to put a stop to the young Titans' bad decisions, the elderly Titans are also unlikable because they give the Titans impossible standards: no sweet and caloric foods at all, spend as little money as possible, and exercise everyday.
    • While it’s a good idea to eat healthy regularly, sweet and caloric foods can still be enjoyed but in moderation, such as special occasions like birthdays and holidays, days people typically gorge on unhealthy foods.
    • While it’s wise to save money, the elderly Titans say that the Titans have to SPEND ABSOLUTELY NO MONEY AND PUT THEIR ENTIRE BANK ACCOUNT IN THEIR RETIREMENT FUNDS. This is impossible because they still need money for necessities and some fun things.
    • While it’s great to exercise, they should take one day off per week because exercising 7 days a week eventually becomes wearing on the body.
    • In fact, it sounds like the Kid’s Songs song, “Button Up Your Overcoat”, which oddly has the same morals.
    • It hints that you shouldn't have fun in your life if you have responsibilities.
  11. The scene where the Titans “kill” their older selves to be left alone is sadistic.
  12. Bad moral: Live as wreckless as possible and live short.
  13. Awful Ending: As mentioned above: The Titans got rid of their elderly selves by making the worst decisions that can affect their future lifestyle causing them to do what they want and ignore responsibilities once again, making Raven's advice forgettable from the start and the episode, if you extend it a bit, kind of cyclical.
    • If you think about it, the plot actually is similar to the Season 1 episode, Staring at the Future (Teen Titans Go!), since both episodes deal with future consequences and tell viewers bad morals about the future life.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Raven had a massive point about the Titans' consequences of lifestyle from the start, but sadly she was convinced to make the wrong decisions.
  2. It was satisfying to see the elderly Titans teach the young Titans about staying healthy, as well as the young Titans get their comeuppance with responsibilities. They, unfortunately, got their way in the end.
  3. Robin's long tutorial about folding paper is funny.
  4. The elderly Titans getting into shape was really wholesome.
  5. Raven was a likable character in the first half because she tries to get the Titans to make wise choices.
  6. The episode title at least made sense in context to the plot.
  7. The episode frankly does portray what people usually do in their lifetime as opposed to their parents' advice.
  8. Elderly Beast Boy’s stories are fun to listen to.
