”Timmy's 2D House of Horror” is the ninth episode in season 5 of The Fairly OddParents, and the one hundred eleventh overall.
Plot
When Timmy purposefully lets a volcano destroy Vicky's house, Timmy's parents allow Vicky and her family to stay with them until their house gets fixed.
Why It's Horrific
- Plot hole: How did Timmy's parents know that Vicky's house was destroyed and she and her family needed a place to stay?
- Timmy's parents are so in love with Vicky's family's company, that Timmy's dad actually destroys their house again with an ax after Timmy wishes it fixed.
- Timmy could just wished for Vicky’s family to move away and erase their memories but decides not to do anything.
- Vicky's parents being afraid of their own daughter contradicts the previous episodes where Vicky mentioned her parents as being harsh towards her. Speaking of which, how and when her parents became afraid of her is never explained.
- Timmy is tortured throughout the episode.
- Neither Timmy's parents or Vicky's family worry about Timmy when he's stuck outside in the rain attached to a dog leash.
- Tootie, in particular, does not help Timmy at all whatsoever, which is completely out of character for her. With as much of an undying crush on Timmy she has, one would imagine she would worry for his well-being.
- Vicky's parents neither stand up to her nor ground or punish her. They just stand in fear of her for almost the entire episode.
- Wanda asks Timmy to wish for the volcano's magma to not hit Vicky's house. She's a fairy with a magic wand. Why didn't she just poof it away herself, instead of waiting for Timmy to wish for it?
- Vicky is very unlikable in this episode, to the point that even her own dog is afraid of her.
- This episode shows that Timmy's parents will say, "yes", to anything. Even when someone they don't know asks to come into their house, they'll say, "yes", to that.
- Timmy's parents spend the entire episode treating Timmy unfairly, and showing more favoritism towards Vicky and her family, which is just mean.
- Timmy's dad even calls him "that/the boy", which is very disrespectful.
Redeeming Qualities
- The concept of having 3-D glasses with actual vision of your own fear is pretty interesting, but it was not well executed.
- Heather Martinez takes a wonderful, yet, scary part of how 3D glasses look.
- Despite its flaws, this is the only episode in the series to focus on Vicky's entire family, which could be interesting for many viewers.
- The episode started pretty average until Timmy wishes for the real lava, and burns down Vicky's house.
- Vicky gets comeuppance in the episode, which is the entire plot.
- Timmy, his fairies, and Vicky's parents are likable characters.
