Timmy's Secret Wish! is the second episode in the eighth season of The Fairly OddParents, serving as the tenth anniversary special of the series. It also is the tenth and final animated television movie of the series.

Plot

Timmy Turner makes his millionth wish which all of Fairy World has gathered to celebrate. But after reviewing his wishes, the Fairy Council finds that Timmy should be put on trial for being the worst godchild ever. Wanda, Cosmo, and Poof think they can prove that Timmy is a good kid until the truth from Foop comes out — Timmy has made a secret wish that Wanda, Poof, and everyone else did not know about besides Cosmo, who forgot he granted it.

Why We Secretly Wish The Episode Never Existed

  1. The titular secret wish is very dumb: Timmy wished for everyone to never age, out of fear of losing his fairy godparents. This shows that Timmy learned absolutely nothing from "Channel Chasers", a television movie from the fourth season.
    • Not to mention, this wish occurred over fifty years before the events of this episode. How did nobody even notice that fifty years have passed and nothing changed? Aside from that, it is a terrible way to explain why none of the characters have grown up over the run of the series. It would've been more understandable if it was ten years (to also coincide with the series' anniversary), but fifty?!
  2. The special feels like a big rating trap, similar to the SpongeBob SquarePants special "Truth or Square", which was also made to celebrate that show's tenth anniversary.
  3. The special's song, "A Million Wishes", sounds incredibly lackluster compared to the many previous episodes and specials of The Fairly OddParents with musical numbers.
  4. Lots of continuity errors and inconsistencies:
    • No fairy was able to document Timmy's secret wish as Cosmo's memory was erased after said wish occurred, yet Foop somehow manages to get a hold of the secret wish.
    • It is established that fairy magic doesn't work in Hocus Poconos, even though Foop is perfectly capable of using magic to turn into a leprechaun. (Though the rules may not apply as much to Anti-Fairies)
    • Some of the episodes aren't brought up, like the events of "Love Struck!" and "Wishology!".
    • Everyone else was aged up by fifty years, yet Crocker still appears to be the same age.
  5. Speaking of Crocker, he is inconsistently portrayed and off-putting at his worst. On one hand, he helps Timmy get back to Fairy World. But instead after that, he is just there in the background to be filler and make unfunny running gag jokes, despite his job being to hunt fairies.
    • There's also the very infamous scene where Crocker meet Foop.
  6. Foop's plan to get rid of Timmy, which relies on his existence and his wishes being erased, is flawed, as Poof was technically the result of one of Timmy's wishes, and erasing him would've erased Foop as well since Foop is the anti-fairy equivalent of Poof.
    • On that note, no one in the courtroom told Foop that he'd go away if Poof goes away until it was finally convenient.
  7. The first half of the special takes place in a courtroom, thus making the pacing slower.
  8. Terrible jokes made to pad out the length of the special.
  9. Predictable climax and ending, where Timmy gets off scot-free for his actions.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Dave Thomas (storyboarder) take a spotlight and did the amazing job for many, many, MANY face expressions.
  2. Some of the episode callbacks are decent.
  3. The second half of the episode is marginally decent.
  4. The Crimson Chin reappears again at least, though this was sadly his final appearance in the show excluding the few cameos that came afterward.
  5. Some funny moments, like Jorgen singing the first bit of the show's theme song to celebrate Timmy's 1,000,000th wish, before realizing that it wouldn't work.

Trivia

  • This is the first episode that was written by 3 people together (Ray DeLaurentis, Will Schifrin and Kevin Sullivan).
