"To Serve and Protect" is the 38th episode of Season 3.
Plot
Oggy is relaxing in his front yard when Jack suddenly arrives, telling his friend that he is going to train at the police academy. Jack pulls Oggy in the car and they both go to the police academy, where Bob brings them inside. Oggy declines the invitation as Jack is the only one eager for the academy. Unfortunately, Bob wouldn't take 'no' for an answer as he pulls Oggy back inside, locks the gate, and swallows the key. Jack assures Oggy that the training will be great, until they notice the three cockroaches on Bob's head, about to make their training difficult.
Why It Serves and Protects
- For starter, this is one of the few good torture episode to be ever produced, as this episode does torture Jack but in a hilarous way.
- For a change, Bob is actually a likable character here since he praise Oggy, even though he is somewhat mean to Jack even when the latter cried because he failed.
- Oggy and Jack are once again really likable characters, as they train themself to become a police officer.
- Great title cards for both the original and the remaster, especially the original one as it is detailled and doesn't lie about what the episode plot is about, and the remaster does had a less detailled but still good-looking title card too.
- The concept of this episode is very interesting and well done as it is about Oggy and Jack training for being police officer.
- Ton of hilarous moments, such as Oggy winning by chances, or when the Cockroaches try to ruin Oggy and Jack training.
- As usual, the animation and soundtrack are very good, the soundtrack used for this episode also fit the plot perfectly.
- Half Good Ending: We see Oggy being a police officer, and when he try to stop a taxi, it is revealed that it is Bob, who congrat Oggy along with Jack being angry and act like a dog, which is also funny.
Bad Qualities
- It still count as a torture episode for Jack, as he fail everytime and he sometime received horrible tortures.
- Half Bad Ending: While the ending is good, Jack still lose and is depressed about that, and it happen when there's every officers present, making this even worst.
Trivia
- This is the first and only episode from the first to third season that Bob is friendly to Oggy.
- There is a deleted scene in some countries where Bob eats the key which was done so that the children do not imitate this action.
- The giant revolver that Oggy was given resembles a Colt Python.
