Synopsis
After a mishap, Cyborg gets plugged into the Tower, causing him to go mad with power.
Why It's a Tower Power Disaster
- The biggest problem with this episode is that Cyborg is horribly unlikable during the entirety of this episode, to the point where he's basically an antagonist. Details will be explained below.
- The episode starts with Cyborg trying to wake the Titans up so they can finish his all-night movie marathon. But his methods waking the Titans up are very cruel. This what he does.
- Putting the straw of Beast Boy drink in his nose to drown him. That is VERY DANGEROUS.
- Spraying water in their faces.
- Blowing his built-in fan on full blast in their faces.
- Spraying water in their faces.
- If they fall back asleep, he takes a sharpie and draws on their faces and tongues. Which is also dangerous because ingesting sharpies can be toxic.
- Cyborg should’ve just let them sleep and watched his movie marathon by himself.
- Then Cyborg whines that the Titans not being cyborgs ruins “the fun”.
- This follows up with a cutaway gag where Cyborg tries to get the Titans to do his favorite activities.
- However, it’s not funny because the Titans are often injured or on the brink of death.
- This follows up with a cutaway gag where Cyborg tries to get the Titans to do his favorite activities.
- Plot hole: Cyborg being a cyborg did not effect his survival rate before because previous episodes showed him needing sleep and dying/getting injured from things that could normally kill/injure humans.
- After this, the Titans somehow get water on Cyborg and he malfunctions. Them attempting to him back together is not funny, it’s just tiresome.
- They put him back together as a toilet.
- Starfire misusing the “as soft (clean) as a baby’s bottom” phrase while holding up Cyborg’s butt as gears fall out of it, it’s disgusting.
- The Titans give up and Cyborg says he is naked and “looks like Webster”, we get a pointless explanation about what Webster is and it makes you wonder why they would put a reference from an 80s show in it. What adult would watch Teen Titans Go!? It’s that bad!
- The Titans then hook Cyborg up to the main computer. This is when the plot starts.
- Cyborg becomes horribly unlikable here because he controls EVERYTHING IN THE TOWER and it makes you want to punch him in the face.
- He turns up the water pressure and shoots Robin out of the tower.
- He wakes Beast Boy up extremely early. What is with Cyborg sleep depriving the Titans in this episode?
- He changes Raven’s music because he doesn’t like it. What a brat!
- Bad Ending: The Titans try to put Cyborg back to normal and they ultimately fail. Then the episode ends on a horrific Brave Little Toaster referenced and is highly insulting. As Cyborg turns all the Titans into the main characters from The Brave Little Toaster.
- To make matters worse, Cyborg did not get punished for his horrific actions and behavior. Making him a karma houdini.
Redeeming Qualities
- At least the Titans tried to correct Cyborg’s behavior.
- All the other Titans are likable in this episode.
- There are nice Easter Eggs to Cats Don’t Dance, The Iron Giant, and Batman: The Animated Series when Cyborg is talking about VCRs.
- Robin was also singing the original Teen Titans theme song while taking a shower.
