Uh-oh, Canada is the eighteenth episode of Season 13 of King of the Hill. It was written by Jerry Collins, directed by Tony Kluck, and first aired on May 17, 2009.
Plot
A Canadian family moves into Boomhauer's home due to a house-swap program and they immediately make pests out of themselves, driving Hank and his friends nuts.
Why It Goes Uh-Oh
- It is basically the same concept as "Westie Side Story" from Season 1, except with white foreigners instead of Asian ones and only one side learning their lesson in the end.
- Hank is very unlikable in this episode and is arguably at his worst as he proves to be very xenophobic towards Canada and acts suspicious toward the Huskins for no reason.
- The episode has a very negative portrayal of Canadians as well, and shows the Huskins to be just as xenophobic, rude, and petty as Hank is in this one.
- Hank keeps referring to the Huskin family as "The Canadians" rather than their given names and it gets exhausting as the episode progresses.
- Gordon Huskin acts ungrateful at the end when Hank and his friends have a change of heart and help bail him out of jail.
Redeeming Qualities
- The number of accurate Canadian customs the episode dishes out (even if some aren't accurate) is rather impressive.
- Ollie Huskin is a nice kid.
- There are some funny scenes, such as Boomhauer's experience in Canada and the lawnmower-off in the third act.
Reception
Although it holds a 6.5/10 on IMDb, the episode received more severe backlash from some fans for its negative depiction of Canadians and everyone being out of character.
