Synopsis

The Science Special Search Party (SSSP), also known as the Science Patrol, is responsible for investigating mysteries and unexplained phenomena throughout the world. But human technology cannot always stand up to every danger, especially giant monsters and villainous aliens from across the stars.

When the going gets tough, they must rely on Ultraman: an otherworldly being who has chosen a human host in SSSP member Shin Hayata, in order to best protect the innocent. With the stakes at their highest and their relationship kept a secret from all but a trusted few, both man and Ultraman must learn how to work with each other if they are to save the planet from the ever-encroaching forces of doom.

なぜウルトラなのか (Why it's Ultra)

  1. The idea of making a hero fighting monster/alien is amazing idea, and it's considered the first Ultra Brothers (the second was Zoffy).
  2. The story is interesting, SSSP trying to investigate some place and when comes the Kaiju/Aliens is going rampage, the SSSP shoot the Alien/Kaiju to death, but only mostly Ultraman are doing this job. Each episode has some reference, such as Dada episode is reference to the Incredible of Shrinking Man.
    • Some plot can be funny, like the Skydon episode, which the plot is trying to get rid the Skydon, all method like auto-gyro and rocket is failures. And what's more is some scene can be laugh.
  3. SSSP is interesting attack teams member and it's iconic, too. Their weapon are also cool too, from Bazooka, VTOL, to something useful destroyer weapon. While some members are kinda goofy, it's still serious.
  4. The effect is really good even for 1960s standard. While there's some error during battle or during flying, it's enjoyable to watch, especially for Non-ultraman audience.
    • The transformation scene is memorable, you can see the red ones is part of the background, and it rise up to the giant size.
  5. The phrases of Ultraman is memorable. While the phrase can be misunderstanding (Such as Indonesia and Malaysia saying "Sah") It's easy understanding by Eiji Tsuburaya that phrase saying "Shutwatch" During battle and after battle/flying out of nowhere.
  6. The actor of this series is good. Shin Hayata actors, Susume Kurobe is great as for him.
  7. The fight choreography is great at the time, while the fight choreography using the Sumo type, it did good job to being action. This fighting choreography will be improve from Sumo type to regular type.
  8. The character design is great. While the type A is look uncanny, it did improving the design from type A to type B and C.
    • The Kaiju/Aliens also great design, too, while some design are not good (like Gamakujira), most of the design of these is great.
    • Most of the Kaiju/Aliens are memorable, such as Gomora, Dada, Red King, Mefilas, and Zetton.
    • The roar of the Kaiju/Aliens is also great, while some roar can be terrifying, it's really memorable when comes to the roar.
  9. Ultraman has bunch of abilities, such as Ultra Slash and most memorable abilities, the Specium Ray.
  10. The music is great and catchy even for English dub, like the Ultraman song, and this song can be easy to understanding for audience even for kids audience.
  11. The final episode is considered the best finale in the high note. When Ultraman fight with Zetton, it didn't strong enough, because Zetton is considered one of the most powerful Kaiju in Ultra series. Because Ultraman Zoffy are done doing save the world and fight numerous monsters, Ultraman want to the second chance, it give two separate body, so, when it transforms back to the human and Hayata no longer become Ultraman until Hayata got the Beta Capsule back in the numerous Ultra series. This is considered the great conclusion of the first Ultraman series.

ウルトラではない (Not so Ultra)

  1. Some episode can be terrifying to watch even for kids audience, like Telesdon episode. Because the characters was Underground mutant or Kaijin due to this character is constantly close eyes and thankfully, this thing is just cosmetic.
  2. The type A is really uncanny and because this issues, Eiji Tsuburaya create the better design and it was called Type B and C. The Type A has been broken due to aforementioned reason, so, it replace to the better design.
    • Some Kaiju/Aliens can be uncanny, like example Gamakujira it's considered one of worst design in the Ultra series.
    • Another example is Jirass. Due to resemble to the Godzilla, the audience is thinking it's just like watch Ultraman vs Godzilla due to how resembling is.
  3. While the effects are passable for 1960s, there's some errors here and there. Like example, you're noticed has some thin rope when Ultraman flying out of nowhere.
  4. While the fight choreography are good for this year, the fighting scene can be boring due to being outdated. Thankfully, the choreography of fighting did improve throughout many series.
  5. Some country (Like example Indonesia and Malaysia) are mispronounced "Sah". This is has become an numerous memes for Indonesia and Malaysia due to how mispronounced is.
  6. The English dubs is almost lost media. While most of them are found, some of them are burned or not found.
