Ultraman Fighting Evolution 3 is a fighting video game developed and published by Banpresto. It is the third entry in the Ultraman Fighting Evolution series. The game's narrator is Yuji Machi, who acted as Ultraman Tiga's voice actor as well.

Why it's Ultra Awesome

  1. The roster of this game is the biggest characters list in these series, counting over 40 (42 if counting for unplayable character via cheat) with over 10+ stages in the different Ultra Series.
  2. The game has plenty modes and has a lot of content:
    1. Story mode, where you can play as Ultra character in the different series for specific episode, including non-episode stages.
    2. Tag Team mode, where you play as Ultraman to fight against 5 opponents and can be teaming up with 2 characters at the same time.
    3. Replay mode, where you can watch the previous match.
    4. Battle Mode, where you play as Ultraman's hero or Monster/Aliens to fight against various opponents.
    5. Dada Mode, where you play as Dada to fighting and capturing for certain Kaiju/Alien.
    6. Invasion Mode, where you play as Ultraman or Kaiju/Alien to defeat all opponents.
    7. Survive Mode, where you play as Ultraman or Kaiju/Alien to be last standing without defeated once.
  3. The graphics is good even they looking dated by 2004 standards.
  4. There is special attack which based on tokusatsu. The special attack is cool to look at.
  5. The control however is really tight and can be easy to understand for kids to teaching like how to do the special moves in terms of fighting games.
  6. The soundtrack however is great to trying replicate of many Ultras series music and some original ones.
  7. Great voice acting and those VAs are actually cast from Showa and Heisei Ultra series with some new voice actor.
  8. Multiplayer is still fun to play.

Bad Qualities

  1. There has some missed opportunity:
    1. Some monsters like Ganothors and Silver Bloome is Unplayable characters unless uses the cheat codes like Action Replay.
    2. Ultraman Legends cannot be saved to the memory card, unless uses Action Replay to do this.
    3. Ultraman Cosmos can not be changing forms into Corona Mode. This is due to Hardware limitations for this console.
  2. While the graphics are good for 2004 standards, the texture is looking dated, and it's looks like the PS1/N64 games rather than the PS2 games.
  3. No English Translation, unless it didn't count for starting the game which has an English translation, making Kids is not understand for Japanese games like this.
  4. Some stages/mission can be tiresome or hard to complete.
  5. Ganothors is somewhat the hardest boss in the Ultra video games history even for Fighting games standards. This is due to long range attack that prevent your attacks.
  6. While this game are great, the sequel of this game is a little bit downgraded, but it's still has an new addition like better controls, better graphics, new features, and in addition to new characters and new forms like Cosmos Corona Mode.

Reception

The game received positive reception both critics and gamers alike. And even better, the game is quite sold well in Japan that outside of Japan considered one of best fighting games on PS2, but also one of the best Ultraman themed games ever made.
