DC Super Hero Girls: Hero of the Year is an American animated superhero film based on the DC Super Hero Girls franchise, produced by Warner Bros. Animation. The film premiered at the San Diego Comic-Con International on July 24, 2016, and was released on Digital HD on August 9, 2016 and on DVD on August 23, 2016. It is the first film in the DC Super Hero Girls franchise.

Why It Deserves the Hero of the Year Award

  1. Supergirl gets a lot of character development in this movie, as we see her origin story and the powers her Kryptonian crystal holds. She is also the one to defeat Eclipso.
  2. The animation is better than the series' usual standards, which is to be expected for a movie based on a show.
  3. Throughout the movie, Harley Quinn's antics during the Hero of the Year ceremony show are hilarious.
  4. Good moral: Being a true hero requires you to make sacrifices to help your friends and family.

Bad Qualities

  1. The movie has a hard time keeping track of its subplots, which include:
    • Hawkgirl teaches Beast Boy how to be a proper gentleman.
    • Lady Shiva can't trust Big Barda, despite the latter having turned over a new leaf.
    • Bumblebee needs a new battery for her suit but can't find one.
