Why It's A Warrior

  1. Similarly to Hyrule Warriors, the concept of a Warriors game based on a Nintendo property is a good one, and this game pulls it off just as well as its older sibling did.
  2. Amazing graphics, even for typical Koei Tecmo standards, with many areas from the Fire Emblem universe to explore, such as Ylisse, Hoshido, Nohr, etc., alongside the exclusive kingdom of Aytolis.
  3. Rowan and Lianna are likable main protagonists who fight to protect Aytolis after their mother dies, while the main characters from the main series games are still just as good as they were in their source material.

Bad Qualities

  1. The main roster is lacking in variety: in Campaign Mode, you only unlock characters from Shadow Dragon, Awakening and Fates, while those from Gaiden (Celica) and Blazing Blade (Lyn) can only be obtained in History Mode.
    • It's also a missed opportunity to include fan-favorite characters such as Ike, Roy, Alm, etc. However, Engage will feature at least one representative from each mainline Fire Emblem game.
  2. This game has a reskin problem, as many playable characters' movesets are identical to each other rather than their own individual ones.
  3. The 3DS version requires the New 3DS models to play due to its controls and features, which is baffling because Hyrule Warriors: Legends could play on older models just as well as the new ones.
    • Additionally, since the 3DS eShop closed on March 27, 2023, you can no longer buy the Expansion Pass for this port at all.
