"Plan Dissolve Adhesive"
So much for the demand on more screentime for the failed debutants.

Plan Dissolve Adhesive is a Battle for Dream Island: The Power of Two short. It was released on August 12, 2024.

Plot

During the events of "Balancing P.A.C.T.", PDA tries to free all of the other failed debutants from the roof.

Why The Adhesive Was Not Dissolved

  1. Wasted potential: The main problem with this short is that it takes place in TPOT 8, which while decent, is mixed to many viewers. All of the viewers were expecting to see them do some sort of new adventure after the events of TPOT 12.
  2. False advertising: The promo featured PDA on the roof with everyone free and saying "follow me to be saved!". And on the thumbnail, it shows everyone off the roof. In this episode, everyone is trapped on the elevator roof in the events of TPOT 8 and nobody is saved.
  3. Due to it taking place in TPOT 8, the short is very predictable. The rejected contestants do not get freed until they are bitten by zombies in TPOT 9 (save for Anchor until he does too).
  4. Most of the recommended characters do not have any role at all. The only ones that have any major focus are PDA, Conch Shell, Rubber Spatula, Discy, and Camera.
    • Battery, Blender, Boom Mic, Kitchen Sink, Onigiri, Salt Lamp, and VHSy have never once spoke or got any personal screentime. They get no moments to shine here at all either. 9-Ball, Avocado, Clapboard, Income Tax Return Document, Leek, Scissors, Shampoo, Shopping Cart, Snare Drum, and Tape also don't do anything major, except maybe have one line.
  5. PDA can be considered unlikeable as they believe they are better than everyone else, fix everyone's problems, and feel unrewarded for it. When the real reason is that nobody likes PDA because they are a jerk to everyone.
  6. Conch Shell's hyperactive personality is a cliché. It's been shown from other contestants in the past, such as Ruby, Bomby (modern BFDIA), Grassy, Yellow Face, and Bottle. It completely retcons his blank expression he had in BFB 16's voting screen and in TPOT 1.
  7. PDA decides to snoop through others' hotel rooms without their permission, which is invading privacy.
  8. This short lacks any character development at all as only four characters had any major focus and have been given small roles in past episodes already.
  9. Bad ending: Predictably, PDA is glued to the roof as punishment and argues with Rubber Spatula over everyone making mistakes, continuing to not own up to their mistakes.
  10. Overall, this short is very pointless and has only made PDA's personality reveal mixed with the fanbase.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Great animation and voice acting as usual.
  2. At least the TPOT failed debutants finally have a day in the limelight.
  3. There's still some funny and memorable moments:
    • PDA's behavior can also be considered very funny. Like how they make sarcastic and brutally honest remarks. As such, plenty of viewers can find them very enjoyable and good way to introduce character development overtime.
    • Conch Shell can also be considered a likeable character due to his laughable stupidity. Like when PDA asked about the poster of him on his death bed he thought they were talking about the ones with the puppies and kittens. Turns out he had severe pink eye.
  4. Glue and Juice Box, two BFDI Mini contestants, also make surprise cameos.
  5. PDA gets their comeuppance at the end by being glued to the roof and being blocked by Glue after they were such a jerk to them at the start of the short, making them not a karma houdini.
