Take the Plunge is the first episode of Battle for Dream Island. It released on January 1, 2010.

Why it rocks

  1. It's a great start to BFDI. It decently introduces all 20 contestants in a fair amount of screentime for each to get to know them well.
  2. Decent animation for two 12-year-olds in the year of 2009.
  3. Good amount of funny gags:
    • Coiny teasing Golf Ball and Tennis Ball with sitting in a tree (K-I-S-S-I-N-G).
    • Pin using the "wrong finger".
    • Firey shouting "LEAK!"
  4. The first contests were pretty good to watch.
  5. The iconic opening of Pencil and Match talking about Flower being afraid of bugs.
  6. The soundtrack is good, with "New Friendly" becoming an iconic track in the object show community.

Bad qualities

  1. The animation is a bit cheap but improves quickly in later episodes.
  2. A few plot holes, as Announcer randomly appears from nowhere to reveal the contest and Dream Island, with neither origin revealed.
  3. Rocky can talk perfectly, which didn't age too well as the show progressed.
