Angels of Jarm is a British preschool show that aired on Channel 5's Milkshake! from 2007-2009. The show continued to run on syndication until 2017. The show focuses on a group of angels named Ellie, Rafe, Mick and Gabrielle who help solve various problems in Jarm.

In 2024, the show started to gain an ironic fandom online, in a similar manner to Cory in the House, where the show is satirically referred to as an anime.

Good Qualities That Are One of the Angels of Jarm

  1. It was the world's first religious cartoon for children of preschool age.
  2. The characters Ellie, Rafe, Mick and Gabrielle are highly likeable in the show.
  3. Even for the standards of a Milkshake! show, the animation is really well done.
  4. Very good morals: the point of the show is to give morals. Here's some examples below:
    • The Star of David is still a star, even if it's a religious symbol. (in the episode Symbols)
    • Even if the food is altered because of someone's religion, you can still eat it. (in the episode The Special Meal)
    • Sharing makes sense. (in the episode Sharing)
    • Make people aware that someone cannot eat because of Ramadan (in the episode Hungry Ephraim)
  5. The intro and credits songs are very well made.
  6. Unlike other Impossible Television shows, this is the first one that was designed to teach religions to children.
  7. Even if this is a religious show that tackles morals, it even tackles a serious event, racism. This can also be seen as an introduction to tackling prejudice and discrimination to preschool-aged children.
  8. Most of the episodes are preserved online for archival purposes. It's completely free to watch as well & isn't protected by copyright!
  9. "Football! CARTOON! Football!"

Intentionally Bad Qualities That Are A Devil

NOTE: Since Angels of Jarm has an ironic fandom, please don't take these pointers seriously.

  1. As stated before, the entire series is not available to watch, as most of season 2 is considered lost & haven't been archived online. However, screencaps do exist.
  2. Depending on your view, the character designs can be a bit badly made and can feel like a ripoff to The Powerpuff Girls. Despite this negative pointer, the show has continued to age well to this day.
  3. Unlike The Beeps, another show created by the same person, the show wasn't released on any home media.
  4. The angels can somewhat feel unlikeable at times, the worst offender is in the episode Pick Me, where Ellie gets told off for arguing about a game of air hockey.

Reception

The show has a 5.5 rating on IMDb. It is set to be reverse review bombed soon, because the show can be considered as an ironic meme.

Trivia

  • In the episode "Sharing", the intro of Audrey and Friends can be seen playing on the TV. This was referenced because Angels of Jarm and Audrey and Friends were distributed by the same company.
  • For some reason, Angels of Jarm fans seem to be haters of Pretty Cure. Pretty Cure fans are heavily disliked by fans of Angels of Jarm, but it's unknown why.
  • The character designs slightly inspired the design of Luce, the mascot of the 2025 Jubilee.
