On July 7, 2023, during a screening of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, an indecent image of a woman was shown on the screen. The incident occurred at the Waterside Theatre and Arts Centre in Londonderry. People at the event were described as primary school children that had been to the theater as part of a summer scheme, resulting in police in Northern Ireland being involved. In a Facebook post the following day, staff said they would be "working with the relevant authorities".
