The film was released on July 22, 2016 to mixed reviews.

Plot

Manny the mammoth starts to worry when his daughter Peaches announces her engagement. Still unlucky in love, Sid the sloth volunteers to plan the couple's wedding. To Manny's dismay, nothing can stop the upcoming nuptials, except maybe the end of the world. When Scrat accidentally launches himself into outer space, he sets off a chain reaction that sends an asteroid hurtling toward Earth. Now, the entire herd must leave home to explore new lands and save itself from Scrat's cosmic blunder.

Why This Movie is A Collision Course

  1. The worst part is, that while it was nice seeing the herd for one last time, the film ended their adventures very badly.
  2. Unlike their last adventure, Manny is still heavily flanderized, still being a stereotypical father to Peaches and embarrassing her for a majority of the film
  3. Scrat (of all things), gets a majority of screentime, only to get his nut in space.
  4. The Dino-birds are one the worst villains in the history of the franchise, way worse than Captain Gutt (except Shira, which eventually joins the herd) and his crew in their last adventure.
    • Gavin, while being the father of the trio, is more focused on trying to steal eggs for a majority of the films until they head above the Lost World for the first time.
    • Gertie, is also another example of a bad villain in the film, she even tries to kidnap Granny.
    • The worst part is, that at the very end of the film, they stopped becoming villains and teamed up with the rest of the herd to stop the meteors, which is an example of half-baked redemption.
  5. Sid, spends a majority of the film trying to find a date after his previous girlfriend in the film broke up with him, setting up an eventual subplot.
  6. Buck, is also heavily flanderized in this film. While still making a good return for another adventure with the herd, he always had his bad moments including when he first encounters the Dino-birds.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. A few good/average scenes are fun to watch such as:
    • The "Figaro" musical number.
    • Most of the Scrat scenes.
    • The scene when Buck comes back to re-meet the herd.
    • The scene when Buck meets his alter-egos.
  2. "My Superstar" is also an incredible song that explains Brooke's love for Sid.
  3. The action scenes might be fun to watch.
