PC Retro: The Game is a game produced by 3VR.inc and published by Team6 Game Studios on March 26, 2027 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 5, Playstation 6 and Xbox Series X and Xbox X+Y+Z and is a compilation of as many as 5,000 PC games released in the years 1981-2006. The game is widely regarded as a gigantic insult to retro PC gaming and one of the worst, if not the worst game ever.

Why It's Not Retro, But Modern

  1. The mere fact that the game was developed by 3VR.inc and Team6 is a huge red flag considering both companies made some of the worst games ever.
  2. The game has been in development hell for 10 YEARS, and despite all this, it still looks like a total mess where many elements literally look unfinished, and the games look like beta or even alpha versions.
  3. When it comes to making all the games, it's immediately obvious that the developers did NOT use the source code of any of the 5,000 games. Most versions of these retro games are terrible and clearly show a lack of commitment on the part of the developers.
    • First Person Shooters:
      • Doom, Doom II and Final Doom are probably the most infamous cases of brand rape by this game, as it tried to slightly improve the graphics and expand the game a bit, but it ended up being a completely unplayable mess full of bugs, glitches, and bizarre shooting issues, and that the armor and health deplete quickly, which causes the player to die very quickly, and confusing graphics. The same applies to all other games based on the same engine that Doom is based on, such as Heretic, Hexen or Chex Quest.
      • Wolfenstein 3D, Corridor 7 and Super 3D Noah's Ark suffer from similar problems that doom and derivatives have, as well as additional ones such as messed up controls, randomization of looting, or the death of enemies when they shoot and not the player.
      • Build Engine games like Duke Nukem 3D, Blood, Shadow Warrior, the Redneck Rampage series, and Witchaven literally have texture glitches, and enemies and the player can go through walls and sometimes even fly due to bugs, and suffer from almost non-existent collision detection and the rapid depreciation of life causing cheap deaths. The same goes for games like Rise of the Triad.
      • Even worse is the situation with games released before Wolfenstein 3D, such as Hovertank 3D, where the enemies wander around and usually ignore the player altogether, and the player himself can rot anywhere for no reason.
      • Id Tech 2 games such as Quake, Quake 2, Chasm: The Rift and Hexen 2 have even more blurry textures than the original versions and even incredibly rolled textures making the visibility much lower in all these games causing frequent cheap deaths as the player won't be able to see any demon.
      • In most of 3D games especially games from franchises such as Unreal, Half-Life, Delta Force, Turok, Soldiers of Fortune, Tom Clancy or Star Wars, collision detection literally almost all the time hits the player very quickly contributing to deaths for a very cheap reason. The same applies to games that do not belong to any franchise or being the only 3D game of this francise, such as SiN, Shogo or Blood II: The Chosen.
      • In the Descent games, the player is unable to control the ship normally, and the ship constantly hits the wall without being able to shoot at enemies, there are also a whole lot of bugs and glitches through which the player sometimes penetrates through walls and literally dies.
      • In the MechWarrior games, the player moves far too slowly to the point that it takes up to an hour to complete even one level, and the collision detection literally sucks.
      • In games with stats, such as System Shock games, these stats just don't work, so the character isn't upgraded and becomes more likely to die as the difficulty level increases.
      • In games with an open world such as Operation Flashpoint, IGI, Halo, Serious Sam or Far Cry, the visibility is very poor and, in addition, the optimization is almost all over the place, which makes the game even drop to 10FPS. The same goes for Return to the Castle Wolfenstein.
      • The Thief games are arguably the most unplayable FPS in this compilation, as the chance of hitting an enemy with a sword or bow is only 1 in 10, and the enemy himself may already have killed the player by then.
      • Deus Ex games have a whole lot of bugs and glitches that occur almost everywhere, making the game as difficult as possible for the player.
      • The version of Daikatana from this compilation is even worse and more unplayable than the N64 version, as well as additional features such as tragic controls, non-existent collision detection or tighter graphics.
      • In Quake 3 Arena, the AI runs like a headless chicken, and yet the player gets hit anyway, and more often than in the original game. Multiplayer mode does not work, so there is nothing to count on a normal game with a second player.
      • All other games of this type suffer from similar or the same problems, so the list is too long to replace it all.
    • Strategic games:
      • In almost all games where the recruitment of units takes some time, such as Warcraft, Starcraft, Command & Conquer, Dune or Age of Empires, it has been significantly extended so that the player has much less chance of winning and usually ends up losing.
        • Warcraft III in this version is even worse than Reforged, which is especially unforgivable for a game released 7 years later.
      • The Warlords, General and Steel Panthers games are completely unplayable because only the enemy can attack, which makes these games one of the most unplayable, if not the most unplayable games ever seen in this world.
      • There is a bug in the Heroes of Might and Magic games that the player can only carry a limited amount of creatures, and usually a really small amount, while the computer can carry an unlimited amount, making the difficulty level very unbalanced and usually incredibly difficult.
      • The Settlers games are even worse than the HoMM series mentioned above, because the amount of resources in the vault literally does not grow, which means that the game has zero chance of defeating the opponent.
      • In the case of the Dungeon Keeper games, there is literally no vault, so the player in the first part can't build ANYTHING, and in the second part he has a lot of difficulty building. In the second part, the player can upgrade creatures to only level 4 while enemies up to level 8, making the game incredibly difficult especially during skirmishes.
      • In Tycoon games, it is not possible to accumulate new amounts of money, so the player has very limited scope, which makes games such as RollerCoaster Tycoon and Transport Tycoon not so delightful.
      • SimCity games, while still playable, have significantly smaller maps than in the original versions, even though the current hardware allows much more than computers in the 90's, which is unforgivable.
      • The Stronghold games are a total mess because not only do they inherit most of the problems from the games mentioned above, but they also have additional ones like fast decline in popularity and slow growth, and incredibly high bribes and low taxes.
      • In the Myth games, your units deal less damage than enemy units and move slower, making your chances of winning significantly lower.
      • The versions in this compilation of Sid Meier games, especially Civilization, suffer from the fact that the player sometimes cannot take a turn when the computer can even double, so the player literally has absolutely no chance of winning anything.
      • In WarZone 2100, the tanks drive blindly and usually don't shoot at enemy tanks but at their own, not to mention the fact that they ignore the player's commands at all, which is why it can't even be called a game.
      • In both parts of Cannon Fodder, the number of enemies is exaggerated to the point that the player has absolutely no chance of defeating them.
      • In the Syndicate games, the AI is practically non-existent because it doesn't shoot at all and walks around like blind chickens on the street, and as if that wasn't enough, the inventory has been greatly reduced and the characters sometimes don't even react, not to mention that sometimes there are strange glitches.
      • The Populous series suffers similarly, the situation there is even worse because you can't reduce people, so you have a rather poor chance of defeating the enemy.
      • The X-COM games are an absolute mess, the controls are unresponsive, the player is barely able to shoot and the computer double fires, this is probably the most unplayable strategy game ever.
      • In the Master of Orion games, you can't buy anything, so you can't upgrade yourself.
    • RPGs games:
      • In the Diablo games, the experience points do not increase at all, so they stay the same all the time, and the armor breaks down much faster than in the original, making the game much more difficult than the original.
      • In games like Eye of the Beholder or Might and Magic, the player can hold fewer characters and items than in the original, so the enemy usually has an incomparably greater advantage than in the original games.
      • In Fallout games, the player literally does not fight, in other words, dies fighting the enemy.
      • In all turn-based RPGs, the enemy has more turns than the player, so the player can do incomparably less.
      • All Ultima games without exception are linear when their original versions had open worlds. The worst offender is Ultima IX which is almost unplayable due to being so linear that it's impossible to make a more linear game.
    • Racing games:
      • Games from the Need for Speed series suffer from slow controls and excessive maneuverability, which makes it almost impossible to complete even the easiest race.
      • For some reason, the Rollcage games go too fast, making them absolutely unplayable.
    • Adventure games:
    • Puzzle games:
    • Fighting games:
    • Action games:
    • Platform games:
    • Shooters:
      • In the Tyrian games, the controls are broken and sometimes the player shoots and sometimes they don't.
  4. Misleading Title: The title says it's just one game, even though it's actually a compilation of 5,000 games.
  5. It is very common for the game to not launch at all, so the player sometimes has to restart the collection to start the game from the collection, which is obviously frustrating.
  6. The menu is generally very bland and there are rather few options, in fact there is absolutely nothing here apart from the choice of the game.

Redeeming Qualities(?)
