Call of Duty: Black Ops III

There's a reason why last-gen ports should not be made if you can't include the main features.
Genre(s): First-person shooter
Platform(s): PS3 and Xbox 360
Release Date: November 6, 2015
Developer(s): Beenox and Mercenary Technologies
Publisher(s): Activison
Series: Call of Duty

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a first-person shooter game developed by Treyarch and published by Activision, released in 2015 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows. The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360's versions of the game, which were the seventh generation consoles, have less powerful hardware; there were numerous changes to the last generation version.

This was also the last Call of Duty game ever released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Why These Ports Suck

  1. The graphics are downright atrocious to the point where it looks like a game released in the 1990s or a PlayStation 1 game, even though it's not.
  2. Most animations, say the reloading animation, for example, are highly stiff and loose; they don't even look like proper reload animations like what they are in the game's Xbox One and PS4 versions (which are way better).
  3. Even if this version only has multiplayer and zombies (as the box art on both versions suggests), they are still atrocious due to the aforementioned graphics and animation issues and are not what the Xbox One, PS4, or PC versions have.
  4. These versions lack the main feature of what the Call of Duty franchise usually has, the Campaign mode (the nightmare mode is also unavailable), and the previously mentioned multiplayer and zombies mode are the only modes these ports have. It was planned to have the same campaign as the eighth-gen version, but there wasn't time to polish it because of the difficulty of developing last-gen consoles and the deadlines.
  5. In additon to the previous point, a large amount of features from the main versions are missing, which are:
    • Dead Ops Arcade 2: Cyber's Avengening.
    • Multiplayer beta.
    • Paintshop.
    • Gunsmith.
    • Ground War.
    • Fracture.
    • Prop Hunt.
    • Infected.
    • Nuk3town Map, and its personalization pack.
    • Season Pass.
    • Theater Mode.
    • Specialist's customization.
    • Gibbing.
    • Emblem Editor.
    • Split Screen.
    • Black Market (Supply Drops). This means that all Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary camos, new weapons, Calling Cards, Emblems, Stickers, Reticles, gear for the Specialists, taunts, all weapon attachment variants, and contracts are completely absent from these versions of the game.
    • Blackjack Mercenary.
    • III Camouflage, Weaponized 115 Camouflage, and Cyborg Pack camos are not available.
    • Cryptokeys and COD Points. However, the players will only have Liquid Divinium for three vials, 15 vials with two bonuses, 30 vials with six bonuses, and 60 vials with 15 bonuses.
  6. Awakening and The Giant are the only DLCS for this version; the other DLCs are completely unavailable for these versions (Eclipse, Descent, Salvation, and Zombies Chronicles).
  7. There's no point in even playing these ports anymore because the player base in the PS3/Xbox 360 platforms is dead. If you want to play Black Ops III, play it on PS4, Xbox One or PC, because they have the main features that the PS3 and Xbox 360 don't have.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Black Ops III is a much better game outside of these ports and on the Xbox One, PS4, and PC versions because they have the main features the PS3/Xbox 360 versions don't have and the animation and graphics are much better. Yes, the franchise doesn't do the game any justice, but its still one of the better Call of Duty games released in the modern day (2013-present).
