We Wish You a Merry Walrus is a 2014 stop-motion animated television special based on the MMO game Club Penguin. It features a multitude of new and old characters from the franchise, such as Roofhowse and Rockhopper, who go on a mission to save the Merry Walrus.

Why It Wish Us a Merry Walrus

  1. Good stop motion animation provided by Factory Transmedia that is resemblant of that of shows like Robot Chicken. It also mixes the stop motion with CGI and 2D animation.
  2. It includes both new and old characters, such as Roofhowse and Rockhopper, the former (along with Jangrah, Blizzard, Sydmull, and Lorna) being made only for the specials.
  3. It is faithful to the online game that it is based on.
  4. Herbert and Klutzy (the main villains of the online game) return in this special as the main antagonists.
  5. The musical number at the beginning is good and can be catchy.
  6. Good voice acting that fits the characters very well. It is also better than the voice acting in Club Penguin Island.
  7. It spawned a successor titled Monster Beach Party in 2015.
  8. Decent jokes.
  9. It manages to satisfy the 22 minute length, not feeling too fast nor too slow.

Bad Qualities

  1. The story can be quite cliche and predictable at times.
  2. Roofhowse is treated as a punching bag at the start of the special, such as his igloo burning down and him attempting to leave the island for not fitting in.
  3. The special is not as well known because it was released later in Club Penguin's lifespan along with its successors.

Reception

It currently has an 8.1/10 on IMDb.
