When a House is Not a Home! is an episode from Pokémon Journeys : The Series, it is the eleventh episode of Pokémon Master Journeys, is the eleventh/penultimate episode of the first arc and is overall the fifty-ninth episode of Pokémon Journeys, and the 1,145th episode of the Pokémon anime overall.
Summery
After a dream, Goh wakes up to find that he has a Grookey sleeping on his arm, which belongs to Team Rocket.
Why It’s Not a Home for Good
- Grookey himself is an incredible unlikable character when he first appears, as he causes trouble for no reason.
- Very bad first impression: It starts off with Goh having a "Nightmare" about Grookey's final evolution form, Rillaboom, all the while making very weird and downright creepy faces.
- Chloe, her Eevee and Yamper appears in this episode, but they do nothing but be filler, not to mention they get tortured by Grookey.
- Plothole: Why does Grookey (who you know, is a Pokémon that belongs to Team Rocket) hate Team Rocket?
- This episode tries too hard to make Team Rocket look like the bad guys when they got back their Grookey, even tho Team Rocket did absolutely nothing wrong to be treated like this as they did nothing harmful to Grookey. In fact, its the opposite as Goh is trying to get Grookey back from Team Rocket, when its theirs, so there for.....Goh is trying to steal Team Rockets' Pokémon.
- Wasted Potential of an otherwise great episode: As stated in the summery its reviled that Grookey belong to Team Rocket, the episode could have been about Goh accepting that Grookey is not his Pokémon and leave him with Team Rocket, and maybe Grookey could re-appear in later episodes like Chewtle does, they could have him still be with Team Rocket and slowly building up the relationship until Grookey made up his mind to be with Goh, not only it would have been a fantastic idea, but it also would have give Grookry character development, but instead, they just take to quick way by having Grookey want to be with Goh on the same episode.
- Poor ending: Grookey cause a mistrial by riding on Chloe's Eevee, meaning that he has not learn his lesson.
Redeeming Qualities
- It's impressive that this time, Goh has caught all starts from another region.
- Grookey does apologize for his actions earlier, even though he breaks his promise to be good in the ending.
- Team Rocket are likable, and TR’s Meowth is surprisingly likable too and not annoying like he usually is.
Trivia
- Since Grookey, Sobble and Scorbunny were all caught by Goh, this marks the first time one of Ash's companions has caught all of the three Starter Pokémon from the newest region, which in this case is Galar.
