X-Bladez: Inline Skater is a 2002 inline skating game for the PlayStation and Game Boy Advance by Crave Entertainment. It was released as a budget game, which retailed for less than $12.99.
As the title suggests, this page will cover the PlayStation game which was developed by Vision Scape Interactive, as the PlayStation and Game Boy Advance games are separate in their own ways.
Why It SucX
- Poor controls that try to imitate the Tony Hawk-style setup.
- Only 4 areas in the entire game, which have both Day and Night variants, with the Night variant being in reverse, and both variants have Qualifying and Race stages, which needed to be completed to advance further.
- Even the stages themselves are generic and uninspired in terms of design and layout.
- The qualifying stages get progressively harder, as the number of required points increase from stage to stage until the 4th area, where the qualifying stages become way too easy due to their lack of gravity.
- Worthless 2 minute time limit. You can always finish a stage quickly.
- It was released in 2002 on the original PlayStation. While releasing the handheld version for the GBA made sense, as it was still pretty new at the time, the PS2 and original Xbox had already come out.
- Lackluster and lifeless menu designs.
- Characters that are generic and uninspired in both their designs and unique special tricks.
- Music that generally consists of generic rock and techno tracks.
- Lame unlockables which only consists of the 6 other characters that can be unlocked by collecting all of the 6 monkey and 6 wheel tokens in the Qualifying and Race stages respectively.
