X-Men: Evolution is an American animated television series about the Marvel Comics superhero team, the X-Men. In this incarnation, many of the characters are teenagers rather than adults. The series ran for a total of four seasons (52 episodes) from November 4, 2000 until October 25, 2003 on Kids' WB, which has made it the third longest-running Marvel Comics animated series, behind only Fox Kids' X-Men and Spider-Man animated series. The series began running on Disney XD on June 15, 2009.
Why It Rocks
- Fantastic theme song.
- The animation is a large step up from the previous X-Men series.
- The idea of having the X-Men team consist of mostly teens is a very unique concept, along with the fact that they are learning how to be heroes, with characters such as Beast, Wolverine, Storm and Professor X serving as teachers.
- This can be a reference to the early X-Men comics where the members were teenagers with Professor X as their Mentor
- Likable characters such as Professor X, Cyclops, Wolverine, Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat, Rogue and Storm.
- Awesome villains such as The Brotherhood Of Mutants, Magneto, Apocalypse and more.
- Cool action scenes with fun interactions between the X-Men.
- Captain America makes a cameo in the show.
- Several references to the Marvel universe are made throughout the show.
- The show's finale has the future X-Men team with costumes that look similar to those from the Ultimate X-Men comics.
Bad Qualities
- The first season can be the weakest of the show.
- Some of the dialogue can be cringeworthy.
Trivia
- A fifth season was planned but was scrapped.
