Four survivors -- Tallahassee (Woody Harrelson) and his cohorts Columbus (Jesse Eisenberg), Wichita (Emma Stone) and Little Rock (Abigail Breslin) -- abide by a list of survival rules and zombie-killing strategies as they make their way toward a rumored safe haven in Los Angeles.

Why It Rocks The acting in this movie is amazing and unforgettable, mainly from Jesse Eisenberg and Woody Harrelson. The film takes the “zombies took over the world, now the characters have to fight to survive” clichéd plot we’ve seen numerous times in other movies and gives it a whole, fresh new vibe to it by adding in comedy to it. Likable and memorable characters, such as Tallahassee, Wichita, and Columbus. A perfect mixture of well-executed, memorable funny, and action-packed moments, such as the scene with Columbus and the zombie clown. Each of the characters has tragic backstories, like Tallahassee who’s young son, Bucky, was killed and eaten by a zombie. A nice cameo by Billy Murray whose performance is just as good as all the others. The film decides to take some product placement (like Hostess) and use it very well. Well-done character and story development. Columbus and Wichita’s romance sub-plot is nicely written. The makeup designs for the zombies are spectacular and very convincing. The dialogue sounds very original, priceless, and well-delivered with some memorable one-liners, such as the “Time to nutt up or shut up.” line. The sequel, Zombieland: Double Tap, is just as good and manages to keep the charm that this film has.

The Only Zombified Quality

  1. While it is somewhat of a nitpick, Bill Murray's cameo, while hilarious, can really come across as disrespectful to some people, especially some Bill Murray fans, and when he's shot in the chest by Columbus, can not sit well with some of his fans.
