Amazon.com, Inc. (/ˈæməzɒn/), is an American multinational conglomerate technology company based in Seattle that focuses on e-commerce, cloud computing, digital streaming, and artificial intelligence. It is considered one of the Big Four technology companies, along with Alphabet, Apple, and Microsoft. It has been referred to as "one of the most influential economic and cultural forces in the world" as well as the world's most valuable brand.

The website was launched on July 5, 1994.

Why It Rocks

Amazon

  1. Like eBay, it has a large variety of products ranging from porcelain cups to video games.
  2. You can write reviews to inform buyers about its pros and cons.
  3. It spawned various products, such as Alexa and Fire.
  4. Fast delivery, ranging from 5 to 8 days.
  5. Its paid subscription, Amazon Prime, is worth the money as some products that are compatible with it will be shipped to you faster and it even comes with a streaming service too! Also, it almost has every single movie!
    • Thanks to their Prime Delivery option, it has faster shipping than eBay.
  6. You can schedule deliveries.
  7. Clean and easy to access (although outdated) interface.
  8. In some cases, you can buy some DVD products from the UK or another country (if you're living in the United States).

Amazon Prime Video

  1. Its video streaming service, Prime Video, has a huge catalog of movies and TV shows, plus premium add-on channels.
  2. Prime Video has a ton of amazing original movies and shows, including:
    • The Boys
    • Invincible
    • Hazbin Hotel
    • Fallout
    • Gortimer Gibbon's Life On Normal Street
    • Just Add Magic
    • Undone
    • The Man in the High Castle (its most-watched program)
    • Fleabag
    • The Grand Tour
    • Hanna
    • Bosch
    • The Kicks
    • The Underground Railroad
    • Red Oaks
    • The Wheel of Time
    • The Expanse
    • The Legend of Vox Machina
    • The Marvelous Ms. Maisel
    • The Summer I Turned Pretty
    • Hot Potato: The Story of The Wiggles
  3. Amazon Prime Video also allows you to buy or rent movies and TV shows, which is something that most streaming services don't have.
  4. They also help handle distributing shows from streaming services like Hulu outside the United States, since Hulu is not available anywhere outside the United States. Speaking of which, they also distribute programming from HBO Max #in the territories where HBO Max is not available yet.

Amazon Music

  1. A great way to listen to music, especially on the go.
  2. This album-to-video switching function is available without having to pay for premium
  3. A huge catalog of songs by various artists

Bad Qualities

Amazon

  1. It isn't safe from a toxic (or a picky) community.
  2. Some products it spawned are not good or no longer good, such as Twitch.
  3. Unnecessary overpricing on some products, whether they are used, new, or still there.
    • The Canadian version of Amazon, Amazon.ca, has tons of overpriced products.
    • Some of the products are overpriced by scalpers. For example, An Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 which launched at the price of 329$ now costs 1,019$ on Amazon.
  4. Just like eBay, you can commonly get bootleg items instead of the actual thing. Scams are also common.
  5. While popular, Amazon has made traditional in-store shopping impossible to compete with. Causing what many people call "the Retail Apocalypse". As Amazon is often blamed for so many once-beloved companies filing for bankruptcy, closing their stores, and shutting down altogether. Examples include:
    • Borders Books
    • Sears/Kmart
    • Toys R Us
    • JCPenny
    • Forever 21
    • Payless Shoes
    • Blockbuster Video (Despite Netflix being the responsible company killing it)
    • Sports Authority
    • Circuit City
    • And many others

Amazon Prime Video

  1. They've made some stupid decisions. Not to mention, the infamous ban on anime titles considering they still have anime on Amazon Prime like the Pokémon series, and they remove many good movies and tv shows , and some of them remain only for a few months.
  2. They also have several bad or average movies and shows like:

Amazon Music

  1. It does have a few bad songs like, "It's Everyday Bro", "Man's Not Hot" and the infamous "Mine Diamonds".
