Anatar is a 2023 Italian science fiction fantasy comedy film, directed by Lorenzo Dante Zanoni, through the Alan Smithee pseudonym.

Why It (Intentionally?) Sucks

NOTE: This movie was likely made as a joke. Please don’t take this too seriously.

  1. First of all, it parodies multiple elements from movies, such as Star Wars, Avatar, Star Trek, and the infamous Howard the Duck.
  2. Laughable special effects, such as the laser gun.
  3. The costumes look cheap. They look like if they were bought from a dollar store or something.
  4. Poor production values
  5. Bland and cartoony soundtrack that comes out as cheap.
  6. The captions sometimes have symbols randomly typed out.
  7. The character names are copied from names of famous characters.
    • Examples include Quackenstein’s name being a rip off of Frankenstein, and Donald Dock's name is a rip off of Donald Duck.
    • In fact, Major Crap's name sounds painfully unfunny.
  8. Abysmal voice acting that’s poorly done.
    • The sounds for the ducks are annoying as well.
  9. Crappy dialogue.
  10. Very poor editing. It looks like the movie has been edited from editing softwares, like Shotcut or Premiere Pro.
  11. The director disowned the film using the long dead Alan Smithee, an pseudonym which has been killed off since Burn Hollywood Burn.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The film that plays through the movie, "For A Lifetime" by Ryann Darling, despite being stolen for the movie, is very nice, and wholesome.
  2. The film is just so bad, it's intentionally funny.
