 2014 was the day when the show became annoying, and suffered from a huge downfall.

RealAnnoyingOrange (also known as The Annoying Orange) was one of YouTube's most popular web series. It was created by a Minnesota film student, Dane Boedigheimer (under the pseudonym Dane Boe).
While the 2009 to 2011 era received mixed to positive reviews and the 2012-2013 era received mixed reviews, in 2014, the channel went downhill and still suffers from a huge downfall nowadays.
Why It's Annoying Now
- One of the main problems of this era is that the series lost almost all of its charms, and barely recovered with that, since it now mostly just challenges videos, and there are way more problems, such as flanderization, mean-spirited moments and downgraded writing.
- A lot of characters got flanderized and some of the new characters are either bland or incredibly mean-spirited to the point of being some of the worst of a web series, this includes:
- Orange suffered from possibly the absolute worst flanderization to the point of being equivalent to Peter Griffin from modern Family Guy, but somehow worse, since then, has an EXTREMELY unhealthy obsession with farts and TNT, mocks his own friends and even straight up murders other food with a laugh. Not even his tv show counterpart was like this!
- The running gag of the Orange's crush on Passion can get annoying too.
- GG is a horrible new character, to the point of being as bad as Orange, since he is incredibly mean-spirited, had a horrendous design and is a huge jerk to everyone, including Passion, he also never leave Passion alone even if she did break up with him.
- Pear isn't that unlikable but is a weaker character than the 2009 to 2013 era, since sometimes he can be unlikable and do bad things, but not as much as Orange does.
- Apple can be really really annoying and had a horrible voice (see WIAN#6), since he always annoy Orange and sometime, he say things that aren't even important, much like Chi-Chi from Dragon Ball Z.
- Orange suffered from possibly the absolute worst flanderization to the point of being equivalent to Peter Griffin from modern Family Guy, but somehow worse, since then, has an EXTREMELY unhealthy obsession with farts and TNT, mocks his own friends and even straight up murders other food with a laugh. Not even his tv show counterpart was like this!
- Due to how bad the writting had become, there's a lot of bad episodes due to either Orange being annoying, or because it is simply way too mean-spirited, this include:
- "Orange Alone"
- "Passion Had A Boyfriends?!?!?" (One of the most mean-spirited episode, as well as one of the worst)
- "STUDMUFFIN"
- "All Dressed Up"
- "Underware Supercut" (One of the most cringle video of the channel history)
- "Electrified Orange!"
- "Incognito Burrito (feat. Ownage Pranks)"
- "Boyfriend Does My Makeup Challenge" (A torture episode for some of the fruits)
- "New Butt Shopping"
- "Storytime #29: The Amazing Spider-Man!"
- "Annoying Orange vs. Disneyland"
- "Draw My Life!"
- "Foodsplosion #9: Soda vs Mentos!"
- "Skewerz!"
- "Foodsplosion! #8"
- The "Annoying Skibidi Toilet" episodes (some of, if not the absolute worst episodes of the entire channel)
- "Toad Rage"
- For most of the videos of nowadays, there isn't any knife moment except rarely, to the point of making it feel even more like a kid show than the previous eras.
- Speaking of WIAN#4, while the original videos we're for kids, at least they could be also enjoyable to adult public but now, it is incredibly hard to like it as an adult, and feel like they we're made exclusively for kids, the only moments that are dark in the series is when Orange doing terrible things for most of the time.
- Not to mention that despite being made for even smaller kids nowadays, there are some moments that somehow manage to be extremely disturbing and is even more disturbing than in the older video, an exemple is when Orange got abused, and in some of the videos, there are some fruits that really die compared to some of the old videos, yeah, no joke!
- Granted, some of the characters did in the classic videos but they didn't died as extreme as here, talk about hypocrisy.
- Not to mention that despite being made for even smaller kids nowadays, there are some moments that somehow manage to be extremely disturbing and is even more disturbing than in the older video, an exemple is when Orange got abused, and in some of the videos, there are some fruits that really die compared to some of the old videos, yeah, no joke!
- Some of the thumbnails are terrible, especially ones such as "Underware Supercut" that is very cringe, even for this channel standards.
- Likewise, some of them had special effects in them but the problem is that either it work decently, while in other time, it can look uncanny.
- The voice acting had been horribly downgraded from the older videos, since a lot of voices doesn't even fit the characters, and sound annoying at best, and ear picing at worst, this include but not limited to:
- Orange voice is somehow worse than the tv show adaptation, as he sound even more feminine instead of a male, and his overall voice sound ear bleeding.
- Apple voice is probably even worse than Orange, as his voice is incredibly high-pitched, doesn't really fit his character and also sound like a poor man Toad from the Super Mario franchise.
- Marshmallow had the same problem as Apple, his voice is very high-pitched, and sound gratting at best, and his voice is so bad that he maybe had the worst voice of the entire show.
- A lot of the jokes completely fall flat, and while lot of them can be funny in some episodes, they aren't as funny as it once was and get worse and worse to time from time, this is especially true with the 2023 and 2024 videos, where the series became even worst than the downfall that it already started.
- Nowadays, they rarely do other videos genre except challenge, which quickly became very repetitive, and this isn't helped by the fact that they do videos almost everydays, also these challenge videos range from decent to downright poorly executed, thank to the catastrophic writting of the new videos.
- Quantity over Quality: The series lasted way too long for a web series, it lasted for 15 years with more than 1000 episodes! And also, at times they release more than one or even two episode in a journey, not even the 2005 series of Doraemon did gone this far (despite being positively received, and even though they did way too much episodes, they did less than that), and this could basically be the same problem as that series, but worse.
- Despite having the same designs, some of the older characters designs had uncanny design as of now, and some of the new characters had absolutely horrendous design such as GG.
- Overall, this era is so bad that the entire show is hated nowadays, even the good era, and had even been review bombed on IMDb, it doesn't help that Orange is now considered one of the worst characters of a web series, in fact the reception now is so bad that a lot of peoples consider this to be one of the worst channels of all time, yes it's that bad, thank to how much they changed the concept, the fact that they just focus on challenge instead of what made the original era so funny in the first place, it is even comparable to SuperMarioLogan downfall.
- This was even to the point of having way less views than back then, as now, the older fans did almost forgot of this series because of the fact that they did stop watching it after this downfall, and they also did lose lot of suscribers, thank to how much it did go downhill.
Redeeming Qualities
- The channel used to be good before it went downhill after The High Fructose Adventures of Annoying Orange started, and suffers from a huge downfall nowadays.
- There are still some likable characters, despite a lot of them being flanderized, such as:
- Passion is still a likable character and didn't get flanderized, since she remains her personality, despite what GG and to a lesser extent, Orange did to her.
- Baby Orange is a cute character.
- Corey is a nice addition to the series.
- Orange can be likable at times, despite being a butt-monkey in the episodes where he isn't unlikeable, he can also be funny on some occasions but not always.
- Pear, despite being a little flanderized, is still likable and for the most part, he doesn't do that many bad things, he also tells Orange to not do bad things at times.
- While a bit annoying, Apple is still likable at times and can prevent Orange to say stupid things or annoying the public around him.
- Despite being bad now, the show can somehow still be amusing to watch at times, and can still be just as funny as it was before, but even then, it is a huge downgrade from the old videos.
- Some of the videos are still pretty decent, such as most of the Ask Orange episodes, even if at times they are mean-spirited, they are better than most of the videos from nowadays.
- The animation is still decent at times, and is an improvement over the terrible tv show from Cartoon Network.
Reception
While the 2009-2011 era received mixed to positive reviews and the 2012-early 2014 era received mixed reviews, the mid 2014-present received negative reviews by critics and audiences, to the point of being heavily review bombed on some sites for the critics, such as IMDb where it had a low score because of this era, the score is currently at 3/10.
Lot of fans criticized the modern era for being very repetitive, being downgraded from the older videos and the fact that it focus way too much on Orange or even the flanderization of characters such as Orange.
