Ben 10: Power Trip is the second video game based on the Ben 10 reboot. It was developed by PHL Collective and published by Outright Games for Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
Good Qualities
- Extremely tight and responsive controls.
- Despite there are only 6 aliens (BQ #2), each one of them plays unique and had their own way of exploration and combat.
- All the character models look great.
- The world of Strutebeck is huge.
- You can spend hours exploring it.
- There are tons of areas to explore.
- The story is decent, despite being short.
- Tons of replay value.
- The combat, while basic is really fun.
- The way you unlock aliens is awesome.
- You go into a void portal and unlock them.
- Then you will have to escape it by clearing a obstacle course based around the aliens abilities.
- Really good voice acting.
- All the voice actors from the show reprise their roles.
- Tons of funny moments during the story as well.
- Unlike the TV show it was based on, Ben is actually likable in this game.
- Excellent multiplayer. Player 2 controls Kevin and he even has his own 6 aliens.
- Tons of side quests and other missions to do.
- Some involve you collecting items while others involve you rescuing lost pets.
- There are even some references to the classic series as well. One of them being Kevin teaming up with Ben, a nice reference to Alien Force and Ultimate Alien.
- There are even some minigames during the story mode to keep things fresh.
- Tons of references to classic games.
- The void levels are reminicent of the Super Mario Sunshine bonus levels.
- XLR8’s gameplay is reminicent of Sonic's from Sonic Adventure 2
- and Four Arms puzzles are reminicent of the Sokoban games.
Bad Qualities
- Controlling XlR8 and Ben on his scooter can be loose at times.
- For some budget reason, There are only six aliens, however this can be understandable because the developers probably couldn’t find a way to fit some in a open world game (Upgrade, Grey Matter, Slapback) and some might be clones of others in the game (Humungousaur being a clone of Four Arms, Cannonbolt being a clone of XLR8, etc)There are some glitches.
- Like most games from Outright Games, the graphics suffered low-quality, as it looks like it was released for the Wii and the PlayStation 2, and to add insult to injury, Ben 10: Protector of Earth, had way better graphics than this, and was released in 2007.
- While story are great, The main story is short and can be beaten in a day or two.
- The game can feel like a Super Mario Odyssey rip-off.
