Outright Games Ltd. is a British video game publisher based in London, England. Founded in 2016, as a company that largely publishes games aimed at children. It operates offices in London, Los Angeles and Madrid.

Why Most of Their Games Outright Suck

  1. The business of Outright Games is not about releasing games from developers who want to show their passion, instead, like Destination Software, they focus on releasing just any game specifically aimed at children, just to get naïve parents to buy their child an average to horrible quality product, which makes their business nothing but a paltry attempt to receive quick cash from children. If that was not enough, their library contains many really lazily-developed games that were only made for money, some excellent examples of which are Race with Ryan and it's successor Ryan's Rescue Squad, Spirit: Lucky's Big Adventure, Jumanji: The Video Game, Trollhunters: Defenders of Arcadia, and more.
  2. Their games contain bugs and glitches, with their worst offender being the Ryan's World games, and some of them also crash very often.
  3. Their graphics look like PS2/early-to-mid mobile game graphics rather than 8th/9th gen graphics which is where their games are made for. In fact, all the character designs in these games look incredibly ugly and unfaithful to the source material. They are often comparable to even the N64's graphics of all things. Some of the worst examples include Bratz: Total Fashion Makeover, Uglydolls: An Imperfect Adventure (their 2D sprites badly resemble Paper Mario in a way), My Friend Peppa Pig, every Ryan game, LOL Surprise! B.B.s Born to Travel (the previous LOL Surprise game, and the toys themselves don't look that good to begin with either) and Spirit: Lucky's Big Adventure.
  4. A handful of their games are rip-offs of other games, i.e. Crayola Scoot (despite being a decent game) is a partial rip-off of Splatoon 1 & 2, and the Tony Hawk games, and Race with Ryan is a rip-off of the Mario Kart games.
    • The worst offender is Ryan's Rescue Squad, ripping off several platforming games like any 2D Mario platformer, Donkey Kong Country, the shines from Super Mario Sunshine, the intro of Sonic Generations and AVGN Adventures combined, any Yoshi centric platformer, the level select room in Crash Bandicoot and any early-era licensed Lego game, the level clear doors present in the Kirby games, and much, much more. In fact, they rip off so many other better games that there are too many to simply list.
  5. A handful of their games are based on media and toys that were bad enough to begin with, like the 2016 Ben 10 reboot (twice, the latter game being considered good), UglyDolls, Ryan's World (twice as of the release of Ryan's Rescue Squad), The Addams Family 2 (2021), Hotel Transylvania: Transformania, LOL Surprise, Bratz, Spirit: Untamed, and Peppa Pig.
    • Out of the mentioned franchise, Ryan's World is arguably the worst, as the franchise was created to exploit the underdeveloped minds of 2-6 year old children. Even Shion Guan, president of Sunlight Entertainment, admitted that he intended to exploit children without realizing it was unethical!
    • Despite Race with Ryan flopping critically, they're further exploiting Ryan Kaji, not to mention that Ryan and his siblings are being exploited by both his parents and massive companies yet again. And to add insult to injury, they've made another console game about him that released in 2022.
  6. Many of their games are overpriced. Their games mostly cost between $30 and $60, even though the content of their games remains at the level of free mobile games.
  7. According to their website, they planned to release Ryan's Rescue Squad on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S in Australia/New Zealand, but they quietly cancelled it at the last minute (leaving only the Switch/PC releases), proving that they are nothing short of liars.
  8. Speaking of mobile, their games look like they were meant and built for mobile devices, but instead decided to turn it into a console game.
  9. The DLCs in some of their games don't add much more content than what they're offering anyway, however, most of it consists of extra levels for all of these games, so it isn't that big of a deal.
  10. Their games are rushed, as some only had several weeks of development.
    • The Peppa Pig game literally only has two forms of input, one button and the left and right control stick, proving how lazy they really are when it comes to making games. Even 80s arcade and Atari games made better use of these limited controls for the time. While it's trying to mimic the style of the show, it runs at 60fps, making it look jarring to watch.
  11. Their games are short, most of them taking between 1-6 hours.
  12. Franchise milking: They tend to milk the PAW Patrol franchise to no end, with 5 games made by them, even the 2021 big budget movie adaptation, PAW Patrol: The Movie, receiving a game, and it's very likely that the sequel, The Mighty Movie, will get a game in 2024 as well the way they're going with this franchise. Even the Hotel Transylvania, LOL Surprise, How to Train your Dragon, Ben 10 (2016) and Ryan's World games get similar treatments.
  13. They're a prime reason we may be heading back into the movie tie-in era from back in the sixth to seventh generation of gaming, due to the large amount of movie tie-ins they released. If not for them, movie tie-in games would strictly be mobile only, or only exist through in-game events of previously existing games from their respective franchises.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Unlike Blast! Entertainment, Data Design Interactive and Phoenix Games, they have released some enjoyable games, or there can be at least some form of enjoyment in these games, whether these games are good, decent, or average, such as Crayola Scoot, DreamWorks Dragons: Dawn of New Riders, Transformers Battlegrounds, Ice Age: Scrat's Nutty Adventure, Zoids Wild Blast Unleashed, My Friend Peppa Pig (depending on your view) and Ben 10: Power Trip. Furthermore, their games are mostly fully functional at the very least.
    1. They also managed to port Steven Universe: Save the Light and OK K.O.! Let's Play Heroes to the same platforms released on before in a combo pack. Both games are surprisingly good, and may be considered to be their best works. The original standalone copies are also available.
  2. They donated to charity.
  3. Unlike GameMill Entertainment, most of their games have voice acting, even having the respective character's current voice actors coming back to reprise their roles most of the time.
  4. The character models in Ben 10: Power Trip, Bratz: Flaunt Your Fashion and My Little Pony: A Maretime Bay Adventure actually look decently designed, Maretime Bay Adventure to a greater extent, as compared to the rest of their library, where the character models in the rest of those games look creepy. In fact, the character models from the new Bratz game looks to be somewhat of an improvement from not only the PS2 era games, but the mobile game they released before it
  5. Some of these games are on Xbox Game Pass (including Race with Ryan), where users can pay a small fee per month to experience how bad (or average/decent) these games are rather than buying each one separately.
  6. Their games are easy for Achievement/Trophy hunters.
  7. They do have giveaways for US and UK customers, with the prizes usually being instant download codes for copies of their games. In one instance, even containing a PlayStation 5 system as well.
