Boom Arena is a 2023 strategy game by Vietnamese developer Circlebox. It's a ripoff of Clash Royale that has received praise for being a more likeable version of it, lacking card levels, having an active team that balances the game, and matchmaking is based on skill because the game has no arena levels.

The game has a wiki. It also has a Discord server.

Why It Is The Best Rip-off Game Ever

NOTE: Don't say that the game is a "Clash Royale ripoff" as a bad quality. It's been praised for its way of copying the game.

  1. The game is more balanced than Clash Royale by lacking card levels (being controversial due to unfair advantages when one has high-level cards with high stats, and the opponent doesn't), that the lack of arena levels makes it easier to rank players by score and skill, and no card evolutions. The game aims to have a near perfect balance.
    • Some bugs have been fixed too, such as one that allows players to place troops anywhere with an exploit involving spell cards.
  2. While there are only 71 cards here compared to Clash Royale having over a hundred, it lacks some cards considered broken by Template:Abbr detractors, such as Phoenix and Elixir Golem.
  3. The game has made its troop-spawning buildings more unique from each other. Skeleton Hut is now the only one that actively spawns troops, while Faun Hut instead attacks ground and air units while only spawning troops at the beginning and end of its life, and Footman Hut spawns no troops except at the extremes of its life, but can be used as bait for people who like destroying building quickly.
  4. The game gets semi-frequent balance changes that are well-received by the community, such as one that nerfs Digger so that he deals less damage to towers.
  5. At the beginning of a match, players start with something between 7 to 8 Mana, enough to play most cards and to make a quick push.
  6. The button for cancelling a matchmaking actually works here, unlike Clash Royale.
  7. Later updates have introduced clans and friendly battles.
  8. This Is One Of Great & Excellent Examples Of Good Rip-off Games.

Bad Qualities

  1. The game's graphics could be better, as the three Tinies look the same compared to Clash Royale having distinct designs for the Spirits. The writing is also poor. For example, the description of Explorer is: "Slow speed. Only attack buildings. Explode when died."
  2. Mother Devil, due the game's lack of a Bats equivalent, spawns Devils instead, making it harder for the team to balance her.

Reception

The game has gotten a positive reception, with 4.3 out of 5 stars at Google Play, and its fandom consists somewhat of people who dislike Clash Royale for controversial practices and bad balancing. People over the r/clashroyalecirckejerk subreddit (a place for people to complain about Clash Royale) allow people to make Boom Arena-related posts.

Trivia

Bone Blasters used to be called "Suicide". Due to being an unfortunate name after being used for memes, the name was later changed to "Terrorists", which was changed again to the current name "Bone Blasters".

Steel Hammer is the only card to not be the direct equivalent to any Clash Royale card, but some compare it to Valkyrie.
