Located between China and Japan, many things in Korea were influrenced by both countries, and gaming industry is no exception. South Korea is a birthplace of many popular MMO games such as the Grand Chase series, Kritika, Dragon Nest, SoulWorker, Closers and much more. Most of these games is notable for anime-styled characters and button-mashing gameplay. However, they are also infamous for horrible grind and slow progression which effectively acts as a paywall.

Althought greatly isolated from the outside world, North Korea also have developed a game like the southern counterparts as well, the most infamous being Pyongyang Racer.
