Cephalopod Lodge is an episode from season 6 of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Plot

When Squidward is banished from the Cephalopod Lodge, SpongeBob and Patrick try to help him get back in.

Why It Should Be Banned From The Cephalopod Lodge

  1. As with all of the episode from the dark era of SpongeBob, it's another Richard Pursel's 11 minute Squidward torture episode.
  2. SpongeBob and Patrick, are very unlikable in this episode. Because of their flanderizations, they became even more annoying and troublesome than how they usually act as their foolishness got Squidward kicked out, then they constantly annoyingly request him to join their lodge, and then straight-up kidnap him and force him to taste the stings of a jellyfish for the "initiation" of their lodge.
    • Then, right after Squidward gets kicked out of the lodge, instead of apologizing, Spongebob flatly asks "Do we get to join the lodge?"
  3. The recurring jokes of both Squidward getting kicked out of the Cephalopod Lodge and SpongeBob and Patrick constantly trying to get Squidward to join their lodge go on too long.
  4. The club scenes with SpongeBob and Patrick can be at times irritating, especially both scenes of Squidward being forced to taste the stings of a jellyfish.
  5. The scene where SpongeBob and Patrick kidnap Squidward directly in order to get him into his lodge initiation" against his will is considered cocercion.
  6. Patrick points out it was Roger's fault for letting them in, which he is sort of right. However in response, Roger tells them Squidward is not allowed in the lodge ever again and slams the door.
  7. Bad ending: After SpongeBob and Patrick's plan works, Squidward is allowed back in the Cephalopod Lodge. However, when SpongeBob and Patrick take off the sock and reveal themselves to give their congratulations, Squidward is once again kicked out of the lodge. SpongeBob and Patrick decide to go back to the "their lodge" idea, but first, they need to redo the "initiation" on Squidward.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Squidward is the only likable character.
  2. To be fair, Patrick was sort of right that it was Roger's fault that they got into the lodge since he's the door guard.
  3. The scene where SpongeBob and Patrick using a giant live-action sock to disguise themselves as a monster to get Squidward back into the lodge near the end was pretty cool and funny.
  4. The secret handshake patty cake scene was funny.
