ChalkZone is an American animated television series created by Bill Burnett and Larry Huber for Nickelodeon that ran from 2002 until 2008.

Plot

The series follows Rudy Tabootie, an elementary school student whose magic chalk allows him into the ChalkZone, an alternate dimension where anything drawn on a blackboard and erased becomes real.

Why It's Got The Chalk

  1. The concept of a TV show and a setting about a land made of chalk is very good.
  2. Many likable characters such as Rudy, Penny, Snap, Blocky, Joe, Biclops and Rapsheeba.
  3. Amazing design and backgrounds.
  4. Good soundtrack, which was composed by Guy Moon. As well as the catchy badass theme song.
  5. Very creative title cards especially in Seasons 3 and 4.
  6. Very cool and amazing villains such as Mr. Wilter, Reggie Bullnerd, Terry Bouffant, the Skrawl, Craniac and Vinnie Raton.
  7. It teaches kids about what art is like in fiction, as well as being creative.
  8. It got a TV movie and good specials such as "Pumpkin Love", "Double Trouble" "The Big Blow Up", and "When Santas Collide" (depending on your view) which was very cool.
  9. Some good episodes like "Rudy's First Adventure" (which started the series on a banger), "Rudy's Story", "Future-Zone", "Rapunzel", "Superhero Snap", "Disappearing Act", "Portable Portal", "Pop Goes the Balloon", "Fireplug Ballet", "The Heist", "Chocolate Brunch", "The Smooch," "Snap's Nightmare (Chip of Fools)", "Chalk Queen", "Cleo's Secret", and more.
  10. Catchy songs such as Bushel Full O' Yum, Mumbo Jumbo Jump, Coming to Life, Escucha Mi Corazon, All Day Jam, We're in the Zone, I'm Back and Bluer Than Ever, Making Faces, Puttin' on the Dog, Oh My My, All The Way To The Top, Please Let Me In, Chunky, and many more.
  11. "RUDY! YOU GOTTA DRAW SOMETHING!" - Snap.
  12. The pacing is very good and somewhat decent.
  13. The animation looks terrific in its first 3 seasons of the show respectively in its traditional form. Which was animated by Rough Draft Studios (season 1), Wang Film Productions and Sunwoo Entertainment (seasons 2 & 3) in fact, Frederator made two other shows on Nickelodeon/Nicktoons.
  14. Amazing voice acting. Especially for E.G. Daily as Rudy who also played another character from a great Nicktoon.
  15. As stated in WIGTC#11, it has a lot of great songs at every end of the episodes.
  16. Great locations and adventure scenes, such as the Magic Chalk Mine, the Mumbo Jumbo Jungle, and Skrawl's hideout.

Bad Qualities

  1. The animation started to get a little bit different in the fourth and final season, compared to the previous seasons which looks pretty cheap-looking in some episodes.
    • Beside that, it has some errors in it, for example: it can occasionally go off-model.
  2. There are a handful of a few bad, average or mediocre episodes such as "Waste Mountain", "Madcap Snap", "Battle of the Hands", "Power Play", "Irresistable," and "Draw and Let Draw."
  3. Snap can be very unlikeable at times in some episodes.
  4. The Snap catchphrase "Rudy!! You gotta draw something!" Can be annoying at times.
