Crayon Shin-Chan 2: Ora to Wanpaku Gokko Dazo is an Action game, published by Banalex, which was released in Japan in 1993.

Good Qualities

  1. This game is a major improvement over the first game as it is more challenging and the platforming is much more fun, even despite not being as good as the 4th game.
  2. The dialogue scenes are excellent, and are typical of the original Crayon Shin-Chan manga and anime.
    • The changes in facial expressions and the silly exchanges that are unique to Shin-chan are still present in the game. For a Game Boy game, it is impressive.
  3. Good graphics, being more detailled than the first game, and it is still faithful to the show art style, along with the amazing sprites work and the beautiful backgrounds to look at.
  4. The difficulty here is increased in a good way, as it is much more challenging and thus it make this game more fun to play than the first game.
  5. Solid and responsive controls.
  6. There's now a few power ups which give you more easy difficulty and the power ups are very decent, a feature that was not seen in the first game.
    • Action Kamen Transformation Set: Transform into Action Kamen for a certain period of time. During the transformation, you are invincible and can fire an action beam by pressing the B button.
    • Children's stamina drink: Temporarily increases jumping power.
    • Trainers: Temporarily increases movement speed.
  7. The level design is much better here, as it had more platforming sections, more obstacles and also it is based on Shinnosuke town, which is great and make the game faithful.
  8. Decent soundtrack, as it is catchy, relaxing and once again sound very nostalgic, in fact it is even better than the first game, even if there's not much musics that is there.
  9. Continues are now added, which make up for the harder difficulty.

Bad Qualities

  1. Despite being harder than the first game in a good way, it can still be frustrating at times, especially level 5, and the enemies are very fast and most of them can barely even being jump over because of your jump being short.
  2. The mini-games are terrible and much worse than the first game, aside from the soccer mini game.
    • There are four types of games to enjoy: Kamizumo, Kankeri, Soccer, and Rock-Paper-Scissors, but all of them are quite difficult.
      • In Kamizumo, you use the left button and the A button to move your piece back and forth, left and right, and push your opponent's piece out of the ring. From the third match of the four consecutive matches, your opponent's push becomes so strong that you can't win with half-hearted succession of hits, but if you keep hitting only one button, you will fall, so it's difficult to control the amount of force.
      • In Kankeri, you search for three friends hiding in a field similar to the previous game's "Find Shiro!", and if you find them, go back before the can is kicked. However, you can only search five times , so if you miss three times, you can't clear the game. If you move away from the can during the game, your friends may come out on their own, but this will also be counted as one time.
      • Soccer is a penalty shootout, best of three (with sudden death), but it is difficult to stop because the power gauge that determines the strength of the kick moves very quickly, and if the gauge is lower than a certain value, it will miss. Still, it is easier than the two above.
      • Rock-Paper-Scissors is a three-player elimination game with no special rules, but on the other hand, it is a game of pure luck and there is no strategy to win.
  3. The game is still way too short, as while there's 5 levels this time, it still way too short and can be finished in only 20 minutes, only 5 minutes more than the first game.
  4. You still need to fund something for getting the true ending, and once again it is very frustrating and just a bad way to make replay values.
