Dad Overboard is the second half of episode 16 and the 35th episode overall of season 7 of The Fairly OddParents.

Plot

The Turner family accidentally gets stranded on an island after Mr. Turner accidentally gets lost in finding the hotel to stay. Poof, on the other hand, discovers a bomb from the military that puts everyone in danger before they are all sent to the naughty list by Santa.

Good Qualities

  1. This episode has a good concept, after the Turner family gets stranded on a deserted island, Timmy wishes for things that can make it a resort, while a bomb appears to explode before sending them to a naughty list by Santa.
  2. The Turner family is likable since all of them stay on a deserted island after Timmy wishes for some things to have fun. Before the military bomb explodes, Mr. Turner builds a Submarine car made with bamboo sticks and tells her wife and Timmy to evacuate all the coconuts to the bamboo submarine car. Even Timmy does lift the military bomb with ease so that he can escape on the deserted island.
    • Mr. Turner did have some friendly time with the coconut named Eduardo, which is nice.
  3. After Crocker sees that Timmy is not in school since he is lost on a deserted island, he becomes less crazy and becomes likable later on.
  4. Aaron Hammersley (the storyboarder) takes a wacky spotlight when Timmy and his fairies screamed as they now depend on Dad to save them.
  5. The subplot focusing on Mr. Crocker, the students, and Sergeant Flinch watching the Turner family escape before the military bomb explodes is also good here. At first, they seem to get tortured by Mr. Crocker after Timmy is gone from school, but when they arrive at the military base, they watch Timmy and his family escape which is a surprise field trip for them.
  6. After the bomb explodes, the students see Timmy and his family dead, and they cry (which adds suspense in this episode), but when the latter escapes, they cheer. This comes out as an emotional moment in this episode.
  7. Hilarious ending: After Timmy and his family escape, they go to the Santa Village again, but this time, they are not aware that Santa Claus will send them to the naughty list. They even yell "WRONG WAY!" but landed on a volcano filled with hot chocolate, since using lava can potentially melt snow in the Santa Village.

Bad Qualities That Went Overboard

  1. Misleading title card: The elf is seen on the life tube with Mr. Turner in the deserted island, but he does not appear in this episode.
  2. In the opening scene, the Turner family is not aware after they see the Santa Village because Mr. Turner tells Timmy that "GPS is for brains". Proving that he is stupid enough to navigate the destination.
    • It happens three times in the flashback where they are not aware of the volcano after Mr. Turner's stupidity (one in Dimmsdale, one in New York, and one in the Medieval castle).
  3. Cosmo and Poof using hammers to smash the bomb count as an idiot move since they would potentially cause headaches or damage their eardrum. Although the soundwave of the bomb causes their hair to get spiky instead.
  4. General McCloud is a one-time loud-mouthed character who never shuts himself up. At one point, he yells at Sergeant Flinch and gets "stripped to the bone" after yelling too much, stating that it is fantastic.
    • The Santa is not likable here, as Mr. Turner is blind enough that he and his family go the wrong way and he believes that the Santa will send them the naughty list.
    • While Crocker's still funny, his character started to derail more as he was going crazy while trying to celebrate his victory of Timmy's family.
  5. While the ending is hilarious, it makes the Turner family wanting to get dipped by hot chocolate lava, implying that they get injured.
