"Farm Pit" is the thirty-sixth episode in the eigth season of The Fairly OddParents.

Plot

Mr. Turner is tired of being stuck in the driveway all day, so he quits his job and tries to start up a farm instead. Unfortunately, he has no luck at growing anything, so Timmy wishes his father's crops would grow huge. They put Super Seeds on the ground, which grow bigger into plants. But now Timmy has to do all the work and his dad has so much success that he wants his family to stay on the farm forever!

Why It Got Eaten By The Crows

  1. The scene where Timmy jumps into the tornado after saying that "he'll rip the flesh off his bones and put him out of his misery" may be very disturbing to some, as it can be interpreted as a suicide joke.
  2. The subplot with Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof is confusing and pointless. Cosmo idiotically thinks that Cleveland is a magical Oz-like land called Cleve. He even grave robs.
    • Plus, Cosmo and Wanda were able to poof up things without needing wands. It was revealed at the end that Cosmo kept wands in his pocket, but why didn't Wanda question it then?
  3. Mr. Turner is at his absolute worst in this episode. For starters, he idiotically thinks Timmy is a scarecrow and the actual scarecrow is Timmy, and he forces Timmy to do all the work while he practically does nothing. And when Timmy jumps into the tornado to find Cosmo, Wanda, and Poof, Mr. Turner is more concerned about forcing him to do more of the work rather than the safety of his son. Mrs. Turner on the other hand just lets this all happen without second thought.
  4. The Super Seeds is a horrible plot point. The concept of magic that makes crops keep growing sounds interesting on paper. But thanks to the mean-spirit nature of the episode, it keeps making Timmy more and more miserable. To make matters worse, Wanda keeps informing that fairies cannot stop super seeds from growing, which makes Timmy stuck in the situation he was in and makes Wanda sound like she purposely doesn't want to help her godchild.
  5. The humor is nonexistent, with the running gag of cows falling on Timmy.
  6. Plot Holes:
    • Since when does the Turner's residence got a highway?
    • Since when does Mr. Turner become a farmer after a severe traffic jam?
    • Mr. Turner touching the plants comes out as terrible since they would die when it does not have any purpose in real life.
    • The police arrests Wanda for destroying the "Do Not Cross" tape makes no sense.
    • Cosmo calling the mop "scarecrow", mailbox "tin man", and the hobo "lion" just comes out as stupid and they do not even have costumes to wear.
    • The giant cow suddenly destroys the highway would arrest both Mr. Turner since he wants to go to the office early after the events of the opening scene.
      • Ironically, Timmy Turner is riding a giant cow, yet he is not arrested, though it is not his fault since Mr. Turner is the one riding it.
  7. Nonsensical ending, where Timmy and Mr. Turner rides a giant cow that wrecks the highway and Cosmo, Wanda, the mailbox, the broom, and the hobo singing "The Magical Land of Cleave".
    • Overall, this episode not only end Ed Valentine's FOP career in the poor note, but also ended the good seasons at airing order.

Redeeming Qualities

  1. The beginning is pretty funny.
  2. Timmy and Mrs. Turner are the only likable characters in this episode.
  3. The concept of having a parent pretending as a farmer because of the stressful thing in the opening scene is interesting, yet it is poorly executed.
  4. Fred Gonzales (storyboarder) take an wacky spotlight when Mr. Turner plants or touches a plant, it screams in agony, dies, and becomes a grave.

Trivia

  • This episode was well known to be banned by Nickelodeon due to references to a murder scene. This episode was first aired on August 5, 2012 in the U.S., with its original sister episode "Crock Talk", which aired a year earlier, in July 2011, during the week of premieres. However, the ban was lifted on December 29, 2012 and the episode "Crock Talk" still airs with it to this day in the U.S.
