Danger Mouse is a British animated television series created by Brian Cosgrove and Mark Hall. It was aired on ITV in the UK.

In the United States, it was aired on Nickelodeon from 1984 to 1987 and 1991 to 1994. It was the very first fully-animated series aired on Nickelodeon. It was also the 2nd animated British TV show to air in the United States behind SuperTed, which that program used to air on The Disney Channel throughout the 1980s.

Plot

Danger Mouse is the greatest secret agent in the world, who has an assistant named Penfold, the worlds worst and most cowardly assistant. Together, they fight his old nemisis, Baron Silas Greenback, and his dim-witted henchman Stiletto Mafiosa.

Why It Rocks

  1. Very funny humor, especially from Penfold.
  2. Lines like "Oh crumbs", "Penfold, shush", and "Good grief".
  3. The narrator is funny.
  4. Excellent episodes like "Four Heads Are Better Than Two".
  5. Stiletto is a funny dim-witted henchman, who gets hit whenever he screws up.
  6. Baron Silas Greenback and Stiletto Mafiosa are the British counterpart to Pinky and the Brain.
  7. It's spin-off, Count Duckula, was an excellent hit.
  8. The theme song is very catchy
  9. Not once did this show jump the shark, or suffer from a seasonal rot. That is very rare for a series.
  10. The reboot is very good as the original, and that's also rare.

Bad Qualties

  1. Seasons 2, 3a, and 4 were divided into five five-minute episodes, each airing on one day of the week. This was a problem as people only got five minutes and had to wait the next day for more Danger Mouse.
  2. The above problem was fixed in Season 5, whilst forming a new problem. Although the aforementioned season, Season 6 and 8 last 10 minutes, the episodes alone lasted only 8 minutes, so most plots were rushed.
  3. After Season 2, they shortened the into and outdo because of the aforementioned description in BQ1. Even after Season 5 stopped that, they still had the shortened intro, but the outro was brought back. Eventually in Season 9, the intro came back to the full version, but the outro was less creative, even though still long.
  4. Count Duckula can be annoying at times.

Trivia

  • Danger Mouse parodies Danger Man, a 1960s British TV show.
  • In the United States, Danger Mouse was the first fully-animated series ever aired on Nickelodeon.
  • Some episodes were held back to future seasons. Episodes "The Strange Case of the Ghost Bus" and "The Trip to America" were supposed to be part of Season 1, but were pushed back to Season 3. Episodes "Gremlin Alert" and "Cor What A Picture" were also pushed back as Season 8, though it is unknown if it is Season 5 or 6, as they have the 1983 copyright date, which is what Season 5 and some Season 6 episodes have.
  • Speaking of Season 8, it was originally gonna be the end of Danger Mouse, until it was revived in 1991 with two more seasons.
