Behold, the animation studio that literally killed a person, we are not joking about this!

Guru Studio is a Canadian animation studio founded on May 8, 2000 by CGI animator Frank Falcone, alongside executive producer Anne Deslauriers and traditional animator Chuck Gammage. They are known as the studio behind PAW Patrol.
Why They Suck
- Inside the studio's headquarters, an extremely toxic work environment lives where employee mistreatment and overworking is common.
- Perhaps the most infamous example of an employee getting mistreated was Charles E. Bastien, director of PAW Patrol for its third through tenth seasons. He had been battling cancer for years, and when his cancer became serious, he can't leave the studio by order of the executives, making him overworked and even stressed, resulting in his death on March 21, 2023. Worse, they tried covering this up with a "dedication" post on Linkedln about his death to make you have sympathy with them, but the damage was already done by then, as what they did to Bastien is inexcusable.[citation needed]
- When Paul Brown was brought in after Bastien's death, the studio did not bother changing the director credit until season 11. Some of the last season 10 episodes did not have Bastien involved at all, yet he is still credited for unknown reasons.

- Their animation is rather subpar, mediocre and bland for the most part, even when the animators tried their best, such as with season 1 of The Backyardigans (despite Nelvana doing most of the animation), Abby Hatcher and Pikwik Pack, the latter having animation that presumably rips-off the animation style from Bluey and shares the same problems as other Flash animated Canadian cartoons at the time. Even PAW Patrol wasn't safe from this, as the animation in seasons 5-7 is dull, with washed-out palettes and stiffer animation.
- New employees don't get any training at all. They would often get themselves in trouble in spite of a lack in training. It's like if the studio believes that everyone is competent at their jobs when in reality, they should get instructions on what to do and what not to do.
- Thanks to the toxic work environment, the new animation pipeline used for PAW Patrol in season 11, was not used until its third episode.
- They are one of many reasons why the Canadian animation industry has a bad reputation nowadays, and it shows.
Redeeming Qualities
- Their animation can be competent at times such as with PAW Patrol (despite seasons 5-7 having downgraded animation), True and the Rainbow Kingdom, The Backyardigans (despite season 1's mediocre effort), the first season of Shimmer and Shine, Justin Time and Big Blue.
- In fact, Paul Brown's direction for PAW Patrol made the show look even better than ever thanks to the updated textures and lighting.
- They were less bad until PAW Patrol skyrocketed in popularity by the mid 2010s.
