"Dream on" is the second segment of the 84th of episode of the fourth season of Oggy and the Cockroaches.

Plot

Oggy is dreaming about the lottery numbers; everytime he tries to think of them, he keeps getting distracted.

Why It Won't Win the Dream Lottery

  1. Unlike most cases in the series Oggy is quite irritable and somewhat unlikable in this episode here are evidents, when Bob was mowing his lawn Oggy destroyed it all because it was too loud. This episode could also be an early sign of his flanderization as well.
  2. The plot isn't actually that bad as a concept but the execution need a lot to be desired because of Oggy being unlikable and tortured for bad reasons.
    • In addition, Oggy just give himself the tortures because instead of putting ear phones or anything like that, he just try to find a quiet place, when his house was the solution to his problems, even though Jack ruined his dream because of talking about the cat he was going to search.
  3. As stated before, this is an Oggy torture episode because he wanted to win the lottery by finding the number.
  4. Oggy did beat up Jack just because of talking about his love interest, while yes Jack had ruined his dream, he could just asked to let him sleep or even finishing the discussion and after that he can go dream again.
  5. For some weird reasons, the coackroaches are nowhere to be seen until the ending (if we doesn't count the dreaming scene for the last number).
  6. Like most cases in Season 4 the roaches get random hatred rather than comeuppance, especially that here they didn't done anything at all due to not appearing in the episode aside from the dreaming scenes and the ending.
  7. Plot Holes:
    • Why does Oggy doesn't put ear phones instead of trying to find a quiet place, since it would have prevent all this madness to happen.
    • Also, why does he imagine the coackroaches taking his number since it is his dream, this was never explained since this isn't even a nightmare at all.
    • How does he can sleep again this much time, except if he's really tired, since when you wake up, you take some times to get sleepy again.
  8. The absolutely horrible ending where Oggy chases the roaches with a chainsaw, thinking that they did it, even though it was Oggy who draw that face while dreaming, which is probably one of the worst ending in a Oggy episode beside "Locked Outside".

Redeeming Qualities

  1. Great title card, especially the background along with the very relaxing music to it.
  2. At least Oggy did get some sort of comeuppance as he wasn't able to guess the last lottery number.
  3. Olivia, Jack, Bob and even the coackroaches are likable characters.

Trivia

  • There is one number missing on the dream sequence before edited out during production. And that is 42.
  • The name episode is references to Song “Dream On” by Aerosmith.
