Ed, Edd n Eddy: Jawbreakers! is a 2D side-scrolling video game developed by Climax Group and published by BAM! Entertainment, and was released for the Game Boy Advance on September 15, 2002. It's based of the Cartoon Network series Ed, Edd n Eddy and is the second game based off of the series.
Plot
Ed, Edd n Eddy go on a quest to obtain an ever-lasting jawbreaker.
Why This Game Will Break Your Jaw
- Bland, and boring gameplay.
- Lame plot with not much going on, the "story", is nothing but about the Eds that go on a quest to obtain an ever-lasting jawbreaker and... that's it, which is inexcusable for a game that's based off of a comedy show such as Ed, Edd n Eddy, as that show is known for having creative plots and stories.
- No tutorial.
- Bland and repetitive sound effects. While the Eds are voiced by their voice actors from the show, they keep saying the same thing over and over, which gets annoying very fast.
- Weird controls that makes it wonky. B is mapped to running and selecting items, while A uses items.
- Annoying enemies that can cause cheap hits.
- Lame an uninspiring boss-fights.
- This game as a whole is a rip-off of The Lost Vikings. Additionally, the game was released before the Game Boy Advance version of The Lost Vikings.
- There is no indication of how long or short a level is.
- Horrible ending: Once the Eds made it to the candy store, the kids tell them they were too late, then Jimmy reveals that he had the raffle ticket the whole time and the kids make fun of the Eds, meaning that the Eds went though all that trouble for nothing.
Redeeming Qualities
- The graphics look great, and look exactly like the cartoon.
- There are some good jokes here and there.
- The music is catchy.
- This game has one of the very few Ed, Edd n Eddy moments where the Eds actually beat the annoying Kanker Sisters.
Reception
Ed, Edd n Eddy: Jawbreakers! received "generally unfavorable reviews", according to the review aggregator Metacritic, which rated it 49 out of 100 based on five critic reviews. Others complained of lack of indication as to time necessary to complete levels coupled with each level's time limit. Its review in the magazine Nintendo Power noted "since the characters have unusual strides, the movement can be slow and unpredictable.
