Empire Square is a British animated TV series created by Matt Morgan, who is best known for his work with the now controversial Russell Brand.
Plot
Empire Square is about three unruly children named Ritchie, Rabbit, and Hooks. They are frequently looking for "get-rich" schemes and get into a lot of trouble with crack whores, pedophiles, and other weird characters. They form bands in various episodes.
Why It Can Be Your Shawty
- The art style looks very unique, compared to other shows airing at the time, since they do use pixel art.
- Even if the concept seems to be very similar to Ed, Edd n Eddy, it still has enough differences to make it stand out. Ed, Edd n Eddy consists of three boys, but Ritchie, Rabbit, and Hooks are two boys and one girl.
- Despite many of the jokes being very shocking, they do have some clever one-liners.
- They hired great voice actors, both from the United Kingdom and the United States. Some are Jackie Clarke, Bobby Moynihan, Matt Wilkinson, and more.
- Interesting episode ideas, since they are also a band at times.
- Speaking of them being a band, their song, "Ho! Song" is pretty funny.
Bad Qualities
- It can be extremely inappropriate at times, and it feels unneeded. There was a scene in this series where Ritchie is upside down, his tunic flips up, and you can see his penis.
- There are also instances where the show turns overly graphic, such as when Ritchie gets stuck in a woman's breast, and eventually escapes, leaving him covered in blood.
- Just like any show, it can have some bad episodes, like Boob Jobs, Live, for example.
Reception
With it being a very obscure series, it only has 23 and a 7.3/10 rating. There aren’t many reviews of the show, but there is an exception of two reviews on IMDb giving it a positive review.
